- Apple Home now supports selected compatible robot vacuum cleaners
- Assuming that your vacuum cleaner is supported, you could soon say: “Siri, the vacuum cleaner in the kitchen”
- It has been a long time since support was promised to the end of 2024
If you dream of a day saying: “Hey Siri, vacuum cleaner to clean the living room and the kitchen:” Apple responds to your prayers. ” Well, at least if you have one of the eligible robot vacuum cleaners.
With iOS 18.4 – Apple’s latest software, which is currently taking place alongside iPados 18.4, MacOS Sequoia 15.4, TVOS 18.4 and HomePods Software – Apple Home can now play well -compatible compatible robot gaps and to be controlled.
It’s been a long time to say the least.
Apple first promised that support for these intelligent house cleaners would arrive by the end of 2024, but it took a little more time – exactly four months. However, the support is there with the latest version.
So what does that mean? Well, if you have a model supported by these three brands, you can add your robot vacuum to your Apple home and control it directly or even integrate it into an existing automation.
The latter means that you can configure a routine so that your vacuum cleaner starts a session when you leave the house on Wednesday to make sure that when you come back, the floor is clean.
In addition, in Apple Home or via Siri from really any Apple device, you can ask the robot vacuum cleaner to clean a specific part or request its status. Now you may have to update your robot vacuum cleaner. Roborock announced today many firmware updates that will allow models to work with Apple Home when they deployed in early April 2025. These include the Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra, Saros Z70, Saros 10, Saros 10R, Qrevo Curv, Qrevo Edge and Qrevo Master.
Ecovacs and Irobot models will probably also require software updates, and we will update you when we hear more about it. No matter if an update is necessary, it is excellent to see Apple making its promise to deploy the vacuum support from the robot to Apple Home, and it will really strengthen the offer of smart house.
Of course, we all wait for the Siri infused in AI in the context of Apple Intelligence, which could make control of smart homes even better, but that should happen “in the coming year”. It will probably have to happen before the display of the smart house – aka a homepod with a screen – including me and many other dreams, if ever it happens.
