Highway National Blocked for seven hours while Steel Mills employees show a demonstration

Steel Mills employees organized a demonstration on the national motorway for more than seven hours on Saturday, paralyzing traffic and leaving commuters blocked for hours, according to Express News.

The demonstration began around 5 p.m., workers gathering against layoffs and the suspension of electricity and gas supply to their residential neighborhoods.

The two tracks of the highway were blocked, causing a serious congestion of traffic in the surrounding areas. Traffic police have hijacked the Qasim Chowrangi port vehicles and the FB zone cut to alternative routes.

However, long lines of vehicles have remained on neighboring roads, creating difficulties for shuttlers.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, the demonstration ended around 12:30 p.m. after negotiations between workers and the authorities.

The traffic flow on the highway was then restored.

Employees demanded the reintegration of their employment and their restoration of public services, which were disconnected after layoffs.

Last year in November, the Sindh -Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah asked for the Russian Embassy to rekindle the steers of Pakistan, offering the installation of a new factory to strengthen the economy and stimulate employment.

The request was made at a meeting with the Russian ambassador Albert P. Khorev, who was accompanied by the Russian Consul General Andrey Fedorov and other officials.

Head Minister Shah stressed the importance of Pakistan relations with Russia, stressing that a functional steel mill could stabilize the economy and solve job problems for factory workers.
