Hyderabad:
The vocal expression of disapproval being repeatedly repeated against the construction of six new channels on the Industry river, the nationalist parties of the Sindh organized demonstrations and blocked the highways in different parts of the province. Meanwhile, Jeay Sindh Mahaz also blocked the national motorway on Sunday in the district of Shaheed Benazirabad, demanding sure security of the lawyer Aamir Ali Umrani who would have been subjected to an applied disappearance.
Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sanna Qureshi, led a demonstration at Sit-In in Dera Mour in the Kashmore-Kandhkot district on the border of Sindh-Punjab. The demonstration suspended the interprotrovincial traffic movement for several hours. “No dam, no channel is acceptable on the Industry river,” said Qureshi. “If we are not taken seriously, we organize a sit-in today here and tomorrow, it will be in another place.”
He deplored that the center has already torn off the oil, coal and Sindh gas with water being the last important resource to stay with the province. Qureshi said anarchy in the districts of the divisions of Larkana and Sukkur made the life of the people miserable because citizens are not protected before the Dacoits. “After sunset, these districts become prohibited areas.”
He asked people to wake up and raise their voice to get their rights. “The people of the Sindh were divided by tribal clashes.” Qureshi said he will direct the peace missions to visit all the tribes that are trapped in tribal vendettas.
In addition, the leader of Qaumi Awami Tehreek, Ayaz Latif Palijo, also led a protest rally in Kashmore-Kandhkot to denounce the stubborn decision of the center to move forward with the canal project. “Do not make Sindh sterile land under the costume of a development initiative for the country,” he warned.
He blamed the federal and provincial governments for having repressed the farmers of the Sindh by employing a force. He blamed the party of the Pakistani peoples and his provincial government for having retired from the defense of the rights of the Sindh and his people.
President JSM Riaz Ali Chandio, speaking during a demonstration in the sit-in on the national motorway in the district of Shaheed Benazirabad, demanded an urgent release of Umrani from those who illegally holding him. “If he is not released in 24 hours, a broken shutter would be called to Benazirabad.”
