The world of sport cries the loss of the former NHL player Guido Tenesi. He was 71 years old.
Tenesi went to celebrity after portraying Billy Charlebois in the sports comedy film “Slap Shot” in 1977. The American hockey league franchise, The Hershey Bears, offered condolences on Thursday.
“We are saddened to learn the death of Guido Tenesi, member of our list during the 1974 Calder Cup championship, and was known much more for his role as Billy Charlebois in the classic hockey film” Slashot “, wrote the Bears in an article on social media.” Our hearts are with his family, friends and teammates. “”

A cause of death was not immediately released.
The Penguins of Pittsburgh wrote Tenesi in the fifth round of the 1973 NHL amateur recovery. He also spent time participating in several professional hockey leagues and had a two-year stay with the Penguins Menor-League subsidiary in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The Penguins Wilkes-Barre / Scranton are the current affiliate of the Penguins, while the Bears serve as a main development team for the capital of Washington.
Tenesi won the title of North American Hockey League when he played for the Johnstown Jets during the 1974-75 season. Tenesi recalled his time with the team and how it helped him win the role in the classic sports film.

“I played in the same team as Ned Dowd, Dave Hanson and Les Carlsons. Ned was walking with a tape recorder, and taking notes on everything that happened during one of our trips on the road,” said Tenesi in 2016 during an interview with the Observer-Dispatch Uica. “If someone has tripped on the ice, or if a player broken his stick and threw it on the glass, Ned recorded it.”
The intrigue of “Slap Shot” followed the story of a failing minor league hockey team called Charlestown Chiefs. The actor and director Paul Newman portrayed the coach Reggie Dunlop in the film.

Steve Carlson, who also played in the film, cried his late Co-Star Tenesi as “good guy who left too early”.
“Rip Guido Tenesi” Pretty Boy “Good Guy left too early,” wrote Carlson on X Thursday. “In the name of myself and Vicki, we send our sincere condolences. He has always had the honor and class. Prayers for comfort to the whole family and my teammates and the actors who experience another loss of teammate.”
In another Friday article, Carlson remembered Tenesi as “forever a chef”.
“Stay easy, # 5-You are forever a chef,” he wrote.
