- Sony brings its spotlights to the British and European market
- He stopped sales in March 2025, citing the EU trade and export restrictions
- The 7 Sony Bravia projector will be added to the UK / EU range
Sony announced its return to the British and European projectors market and even says that a new 4K projector is coming.
Just over two months after announcing its departure from the UK market and the European projector, Sony announced that its Bravia spotlights will return for sale in the region.
Sony, whose spotlights rank among the best 4K spotlights, previously cited the EU export and commercial restrictions in accordance with the sanctions imposed on Russia and the Bélarus for the invasion of Ukraine by Russia as a reason why it had to withdraw from the market.
He now indicates that changes in these same EU export regulations mean that it can resume the shipment of its spotlight to the United Kingdom and Europe.
But, it does not only come back with its current range, composed of the Sony Bravia Projector 8 (which won 4.5 stars out of 5 in our review) and the Sony Bravia Projector 9: it brings the projector 7 Sony Bravia 7, previously published in the United States.
The Sony projector Bravia 7
The Sony Bravia Projector 7 (VPL-XW5100), previously announced in April 2025 for the United States and other exclusion markets of the United Kingdom and the EU, uses the Sony XR processor: the same used in the projectors of Bravia 9 and 8.
It uses a laser and supports the native 4K resolution, supplied by a 4K native 4K chip SXRD engine. It will produce 2,200 lumens of brightness and support for mapping of dynamic XR, deep black and pro triminear for improved colors.
The Bravia Projector 7 will also be equipped with HDMI 2.1 ports which support 4K, 120Hz and Low Low Wool (AllM) mode.
No price for the Bravia Projector 7 has yet been announced (not even in the United States), but its predecessor, the VPL-XW5000, was launched at £ 5,999, it will therefore probably be more expensive than that. It should be launched in the summer of 2025.
A welcome return
Sony’s spotlights over the years have always been among the best spotlights in the world, and it was real damage when Sony announced its decision to withdraw from the British / European market.
But, when it comes back, it gives fans not only more choices in the mid -range range market, but a brand they recognize: in addition, access to very good reference quality projectors!
At a time when brands seem to withdraw from the market AV on the left and right (my beloved Blu-ray 4K market is Really Suffering), seeing Sony making a return is a little necessary good news.
