Honor has revised its smartphone strategy to become an “AI apparatus ecosystem company” and works on a new type of intelligent smartphone that will include “man -oriented AI designed to maximize human potential”.
The new CEO of the company, James Li, announced this decision – nicknamed the Honor Alpha – MWC 2025 plan, calling the smartphones industry to “co -create an open and starting AI ecosystem that maximizes human potential, ultimately benefiting all humanity”. Talk about ambition.
This alpha plan consists of three stages, each addressing another “era” of the AI: namely the era of agentic AI, the physical era of AI and the act (artificial general intelligence). The first, says Honor, concerns the development of a “super intelligent” smartphone, which the company will create in collaboration with various partners, including Qualcomm and Google.
Honor has tackled various new software tools in the context of its presentation – including high -end AI and cross -OS file sharing technology (yes, this means compatibility between iOS and Android devices) – which will appear on its future devices.
For the so-called ERA physical ERA, Honor hopes that “industry” can work together to create an AI ecosystem and make the most of this potentially paradigm technology. “I call the industry to be really open so that we can fully kiss this future of incitement to AI. Let’s do it together, ”Li on stage told MWC. Of course, it is more than a little vague (industry means manufacturers of rival smartphones?) But honor is supposedly more than $ 10 billion in this cross idea, so the company is certainly engaged in the cause.
Finally, the AGE era will welcome “the coexistence between carbon -based life and silicon -based intelligence”, according to Li. AG. Referring to general artificial intelligence, a type of AI still unrealized which corresponds to human cognitive capacities. AGE FUND ANDI (artificial narrow intelligence), which refers to AI designed to perform specific tasks, and precedes ASI (super artificial intelligence), which refers to AI which is, AHEM, more intelligent than humans (think of Skynet and HAL 9000 – these famous non -threatening systems).
Jokes apart, the ambitions of the cross collaboration of honor are well founded. The last years have seen manufacturers of smartphones and large software companies and that small ones develop real IA tools (consider the detection functionality of Deepfake of Samsung live and honor), but they are dispersed in industry and between devices.
Pigs could fly before Apple and Samsung talk to each other, but the appeal for the action of honor will undoubtedly attract the attention of small businesses with expertise to accelerate the AI revolution.
