Karachi:
The mayor of Karachi, lawyer Murtaza Wahab, announced Wednesday that the Hub Dam water supply project will be inaugurated on August 13.
Addressing media outside the Karachi Supreme Court register, Wahab said propaganda was widespread using old videos concerning the new channel providing Hub Dam water to the city.
“After 22 years, it is because of the efforts of the Pakistani peoples’ party (PPP) that the city receives additional water,” he said.
He said the project, completed at the cost of RS12.8 billion within 10 months record, is ready for the inauguration. “If propaganda was true, this inauguration would not happen,” he said.
The mayor said that the work on the project has been completed and that the tests are standard procedures before launching large -scale initiatives. “Such problems are common in concrete work, and the purpose of the test is to detect and solve problems in advance,” he said.
Wahab added that a one -year warranty period has been set after completion, under which the entrepreneur is responsible for any required repair. He rejected the allegations against the project as well as baseless.
“All standards were maintained during construction. Propaganda noise drowned the news of additional water supply to the city,” he said.

“Propaganda is widespread to sabotage the water supply project.”
He said that the HUB dam had previously provided 100 million gallons of water per day in Karachi, but due to a 45 -year -old transmission system, the offer fell to 60 million gallons per day. “The new Canal project will once again provide 100 million gallons of water per day,” he said. “After that, the old canal will be repaired. Once the two functional systems, the water supply of the hub to Karachi will be doubled. ”
The project should benefit residents of the West, Keamari and Central district.
Commenting on federal funding, Wahab referred to previous statements by the Governor of Sindh. “He said on television that 40 billion rupees had been received from the federal government. I remind him that he had promised 100 billion rupees. If 40 billion rupees were received, transfer them to the KMC account and serve the city.”
He also criticized the Muttahida Qaumi (MQM) movement, saying that “the China Cup”, the marketing of land and the looting of resources are leftovers of its time. “We also remember body bags, extortion and kidnappings for ransom,” he said. “The fundamental problems of the city began at the time of MQM.”
Wahab expressed his desire to work with other parties for the development of the city. “City hopes are linked to its political leaders,” he said. “We want chaos to end. Everyone must work together for the improvement of Karachi. ”
He added: “I am ready to sit with MQM, Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) or Jamaat-E-Islami for the improvement of the city.”
