Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze recently received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, university revealed on Friday.
Due to early detection, doctors think that freeze cancer “is very treatable and hearable,” said a school statement. The 55 -year -old man is expected to maintain his calendar of football coaches while he fulfills his duties during his treatment.
Tigers should start spring training at the end of March.

“Recently, Coach Freeze has been diagnosed with an early form of prostate cancer,” the statement said. “Fortunately, he was detected early and his doctors indicated that he was very treatable and healing. He will continue his tasks and responsibilities of normal coaching, and with an appropriate treatment to come, should be completely recovered.”

Auburn officials also shared the hope of freeze that his health battle recalls health projections each year.
“Coach Freeze is incredibly grateful for our health professionals and has asked that we use his experience as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing and planning annual health projections,” the statement said.

Auburn finished with a record of 6-6 in the regular season under Freeze in 2023, before losing in the Music City Bowl. The Tigers did not show much improvement in the second season of Freeze at the helm, ending with a 5-7 file.

Auburn has strengthened its list via the transfer portal, this offseason, which could help the team become suitors at the Southeast Conference in 2025.
Freeze has previously managed to lead to health problems in the past.
In 2019, he underwent a disk hernia behind his back and a staphylococcus infection. Freeze continued to train the Liberty Flames football team from a hospital bed that was temporarily moved to the stadium coaches for the team’s August 31, 2019 match.
