Is there a more difficult period of the year to dress than in the United States? It’s not really winter. It is certainly not spring, and your sweaters, short sleeves, jeans and shorts are all regarded in a cautious way. It is a wonder that I do not pass every day in my pajamas. What if AI could help us make the right choice?
By preparing another day at the home office, I made my time check the next day. For this task, I invariably check Alexa. Amazon has not yet delivered the large AI, Alexa +, to update its popular digital assistant, but Alexa has long been an excellent meteorological person. So, when I asked questions about the weather for the next day in my neighborhood, Alexa described the stereo-typical enigma of Mars: a hollow of 48 and a maximum of 58 with the rain through all this.
I frozen, as we do, not knowing if it was a sweater sweater, a time of t-shirt, a layer or something else. What if, I was wondering, could help AI?
Fashion, however, is a deeply personal thing, and I feared that generalized advice would not help me. What I wanted was that the generating AI looks at my closet and, if not the choice, help me at least choose my outfit.
As he now lives on my iPhone locking screen and I had some success with Gemini and the generation of games, I decided to start with Gemini Live by performing the Flash Model 2.0 in My Ides of March Fashion Quest.
Here is the vocal prompt that I used:

Gemini’s slightly disappointing response arrived quickly. “Unfortunately, I don’t yet see what’s in your closet.” However, he followed with good dress of dress advice:

I had neglected to mention that I could not leave the house, so the scarf and the gloves made sense.
It was useful, but I expect multimodal capabilities that can hear and see my needs, my intentions and my choices and find the best results. If not, why use AI in the first place?
Then I tried Siri. I kept the Siri button on the side of my iPhone 16 Pro Max and I repeated the prompt. The results were comically bad: Siri simply presented the next day’s weather range and offered zero clothing advice. Oh, Siri, when will you get this desperately necessary upgrade?

Finally, I went to Vocal Chatgpt 4o mode and I asked practically the same question. Unlike Gemini, Chatgpt was too happy to comply:

I turned my camera, I started scanning the content with my iPhone and asked: “What do you think?”
Chatgpt replied:
“It seems that you have beautiful long-sleeved shirts and jackets. As it will be cool and rainy, I suggest wearing a long sleeve shirt with a light jacket or a sweater. Combine it with comfortable pants, and you will be good to go! Do you have a favorite sweater or jacket that you want to use?
We went back and forth a bit like that. At one point, I told Chatgpt that I did not want to wear a sweater (my own silent protest against bad weather which, I think, should already be warmer), and that suggested a jacket instead.
Neither Chatgpt ni Gemini Live chose a specific shirt and pants, but I am not sure that my closet was organized so as to be able to distinguish each garment. On the other hand, I was happy that neither divides me towards a short sleeve or a single layer. It is as if they both sought my comfort.
Ai for the fashion guy
To understand my fashion struggle, however, you should know something else about me: I am a blind color. Not 100%. I can see colors, but shades, shades or too close colors, red, brown, dark blues and dark green vegetables can all throw me away. There was a time when I would make a checker my wife before I went out every morning: “Do I look good? Is that?” She was taking a look at the side, put the smallest head to shake and I would go back to the closet.
Could my IA fashion guides offer similar support?
The next morning, I caught the jeans and the long sleeve shirt that I had selected, open Gemini, selected the “+” icon to add a photo, then asked Gemini:

When I went to Chatgpt 4o, it was just as excited to go back to the clothing subject and told me that I could hold my choice of outfit or describe it.
I selected the camera button in the Chatgpt vocal interface, I took a shot and I immediately received a fashion review:
“Yes, I can see them. This checked shirt and this jeans look great together! It is a relaxed and comfortable combination.”
Chatgpt did not comment on the colors of the shirt or jeans, but it seemed satisfied that I had correctly equaled my outfit.
This process was more than a few steps removed from a real IA fashion guru planted inside my closet which would know my wardrobe and time outside, then choose the perfect outfit for the day. However, I was impressed, especially with the more transparent multimodal fashion capacities of Chatgpt 4O. He was ready to look in my closet, take everything and make at least a few general recommendations.
Gemini Live was, with a soft boost, near behind and gave me more detailed comments. It is therefore tickled by a fashionable nose, but Gemini are probably also ready for your track walk.
