The social networkThe Facebook biographical drama which, according to Mark Zuckerberg, was “injuring”, obtained a suite. And if the first meant that Zuck has a face frowning, then he has not seen anything yet.
The reports indicate that the script for the new film will focus on Facebook files, the devastating report of Wall Street Journal which showed that Facebook and Zuckerberg were well aware of the toxic effects that the platform had on young users and on political elections.
According to Deadline, the Oscar -winning scriptwriter Aaron Sorkin takes the place of the original director David Fincher to direct The social part II For Sony Pictures. And where the first film followed the origins of the social media platform that was moving the world, the second intends to look at the damage he was accused of doing.
What will the social II part speak of?
According to Esquire, the new film will adapt the series of reports of Wall Street Journal from 2021 called Facebook files. As the WSJ said at the time: “Facebook Inc. knows, in detail, that its platforms are riddled with defects that cause damage, often, only the company understands perfectly.”
Facebook files have done – and provided evidence for – several allegations, especially that Facebook was well aware of the way toxic Instagram was for many adolescent girls; that Facebook has a “secret elite” list of people for whom Facebook rules do not apply; that Facebook knew that his revised algorithm fueled rage; And that Facebook did not do enough to stop anti-vaca propaganda during COVID-19. More doubtless, Facebook files reported that all these things were well known to senior executives, including Mark Zuckerberg.
It is clear on which side Sorkin takes. “I blame Facebook for January 6,” he said last year. “Facebook has, among other things, to settle your algorithm to promote the most divisor possible equipment. Because this is what will increase engagement … It is supposed to have constant tension on Facebook between growth and integrity. There is only growth.”
According to the deadline, the new film does not concern the assault of the Capitol. But this will focus on “Facebook effect on adolescents, pre-adolescents, violence and countries outside the United States”.
The social part II is currently in development with the filming and exit times to be confirmed. The first film is not currently available on broadcast on the best streaming services in the United States at the moment, but you can rent it from Prime Video and Apple TV. Or you can read the script (legally) for free. Alternatively, those of the United Kingdom can distribute it on Prime Video, while Australians can catch it.
