- Microsoft OneNote finally obtains the option of paste without formatting
- You can use the usual keyboard shortcuts or a right click
- Windows, Mac and Browser versions all get the update
More than two decades after OneNote struck the shelves, Microsoft has finally added what we would reasonably expect to be a basic feature, which saves many unnecessary hassles that users have faced so far.
In August 2025, OneNote now supported the collage or collage in text without format – “mismatched fonts, clumsy background colors or unwanted styles” will no longer come if you do not want them.
Fortunately, you will not need to do anything special to activate the functionality, simply use the same keyboard shortcuts that you already use in other applications to copy only text: Ctrl + Shift + V (Windows) Or CMD + Shift + V (Mac).
OneNote finally has dough without formatting option
In addition to the keyboard shortcut, users can also place the cursor in OneNote, right -click, select the options to stick and click on “Keep the text only”.
“More incompatible fonts, clumsy background colors or unwanted styles when you draw information from other applications – rather, bring content to a crude text, automatically corresponding to the appearance and feeling of your laptop,” said Bola Soneye, OneNote product manager, in a blog article.
Windows version 2508 (Build 19101.10000) or subsequent version and Mac Build 16.100 (25080335) or subsequent version will both have access to the main feature, as well as the web version of OneNote, but this could be deployed to initiates first so that other users can wait a short time to get it.
It is possible that Microsoft has decided not to focus on collage without format because the application was designed for research notes where the preservation of formatting could have been useful, but due to the high demand, the company finally added a functionality that should have been part of the OneNote from the very beginning.
