The S PEN was a characteristic of the largest and best flagship smartphones in Samsung from the original Galaxy note in 2011, but in 2025, you would be forgiven to question its future.
Yes, the now iconic smartphone accessory is always part of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but there was no mention of the S Pen on Galaxy stage unpacked in January – even the official press release from Samsung for the new phone relegates him to the small print – and the company has actually deleted Bluetooth Low Energy (Ble) Tech from the latest command Air erection control characteristics.
Insolement, these changes may seem without consequences (Samsung told Lance Ulanoff de Techradar that he had deleted the Bluetooth features of the S Pen because so few people used them). But the accessory is clearly not the high priority marketing tool that it was formerly for Samsung, which aroused speculation on its potential stop on social media platforms, the own community forum of Samsung, and in fact here on Techradar.
So, what has Samsung has to say about the future of S Pen? At the MWC 2025, I asked the vice-president of the mobile experience (MX) of the product and marketing company in the United Kingdom, Annika Bizon, and its response should appease the concerns of concerned Pen fans.

“Multimodal is really important for us,” said Bizon. “SO [that’s] How people use their phone – they speak, they write, whether they are in a meeting. People use their pens in meetings to write notes. So, I don’t see a space where the S pen is not a key element in our wallet.
“And honestly, when you look at the ultra, it’s something that people really come back to us. [They ask us] “Will he have a pen?” And that comes back to the days of note. […] We consider the S pen as something that is essential to the ultra experience at this stage. »»
In a recent article speculating on the future of S PEN, we have noted that “the major progress of AI mean that some of the unique functions of the S pen is no longer as unique”, but Bizon is convinced that the arrival of Galaxy AI on the best Samsung phones did not harm the call of S Pen: “Creativity is one of our fundamental values. If you are creative, you want to be able to draw and sketch things. And with sketch to image being one of our AI features, you can sketch beautifully using the S. It has a fairly large edge of the design. “”
Bizon concluded: “The research says [consumers are using the S Pen]And that’s something we are proud of as part of our portfolio. »»
So there you have it. Unless Samsung has a change of heart from next year, you can expect the pen s is a characteristic of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
