- Windows 11 has a new optional update
- He corrects a bunch of bugs that have been boring players
- One of the most annoying problems means that the monitor screen becomes black up to a few seconds when you play games, and it is now resolved
The latest Windows 11 correction provides significant improvements for PC players, including resolving a seriously frustrating black screen problem, and useful changes are also provided elsewhere.
This is the optional update for June (known as KB5060829) and, like the latest Windows reports, it introduces the fixes mentioned for players, as well as the acceleration of the performance of a common task under Windows 11 – namely, decompress the files.
Let us first look at these solutions related to the game, and the culmination here is that Microsoft healed a problem where the “unnecessary display resets” came to some people.
This bug manifests itself as the black screen for a few seconds during the game, and also in daily use. As a Redditor says: “So that could solve this problem where my screen flashes randomly in black during a fraction of a second while browsing certain websites and playing games?”
It’s really hope, and many other Windows 11 players are saying they suffer in the hands of this bug. There are a few users’ reports claiming that the correction has indeed worked, so it is an early sign of hope. (Do not forget that these fixes are gradually deployed, so everyone will not get healing immediately.)
Microsoft also allows us to know that there is another correction for a problem by which when the graphic parameters are modified in a game (or certain applications), any switching screen flashing should be reduced.
Another resolution applied in the category of “graphics” for this optional update is the corrective for certain screens which become “unexpectedly”, which, I suppose, is a reference to green screen accidents, rather than visual corruption, although it is the latter, and Microsoft does not clarify this. Anyway, it would be a boring problem to face, and he should be defeated now.
As already mentioned, it is also remarkable here better performance when the decompressed files which are compressed in the formats 7Z (7-ZIP) or RAR are natively supported in file explorer with Windows 11. The speed boost is the most noticeable in cases where a large number of files are compressed, and they should be extracted more quickly. The latest Windows observations observe that this happens at 15%.
The other NIFTY movements with this preview update include the taskbar to automatically resize icons to adapt to more applications when it is congested, and interesting, we also get our first overview of the new PC-PC migration experience. The latter is provided in the Windows backup application, and it has been in testing before, offering an easy way to switch to a new PC.
This is just the initial deployment, Kind You, and the PC-PC migration function will not yet be fully activated. To start, we simply get the destination page as a “first overview of what is happening”, and Microsoft notes that: “The management of this feature during the PC configuration will arrive in a future update.”
However, in the short term, it will be more a key functionality for Windows 10 PC, and Microsoft will want to push it for these devices with the end of the operating system support. (Microsoft is very eager to bring these people to go to a new Windows 11 PC, which has caused some controversy lately).
Finally, another useful button for players with this fix is a correction for certain freeze applications when you are getting out of the game in full screen. A note of caution here: Windows last explains that a few people who test this patch have experienced another strangeness when you turn off games – like the late mouse cursor – but at this stage, these are only dispersed reports. I wouldn’t read them much yet.
Analysis: Try your luck or wait?
Of course, this is an update of preview, and as such, bugs – like the new potential problems with the filming of the ALT – can be expected. Microsoft is still testing this patch before its release next month, and that is why it is optional.
For this reason, I generally recommend Windows 11 users to ignore these fixes, especially since it is not long to wait before the deployment of the full update, and the last minute bugs will be (hope) in calculation. In fact, this time, the wait is particularly short and the Windows 11 full update in July arrives in just over a week.
However, if a given problem really leads you bananas, you may want to try your luck with the optional update at the moment (and hope you will have luck in terms of deployment period). And to judge by the comments on Reddit, many people really suffer from the bug, which means that the screen becomes black for a second or three. If this happens at a crucial time of a game, it can be very frustrating, of course.
Indeed, many redditors say that this bug has made them wonder what is going wrong with their PC and suspect a fault with the driver of the GPU (who, given the current Nvidia misfortunes in this sense, is an obvious conclusion to reach). At least we know that the problem is with Windows 11, and the fingers have crossed that this patch (and by extension the version of July) completely resolves these temporary black screen dropouts.
