- Leica’s next camera’s next M could be the first to have an EVF
- It could be the smallest, lightest and most versatile Leica M-Series camera
- The Leica Fotos application refers to “M11-V”
Leica seems to be on the verge of the launch of a new model in the M-Series series, but the news may be welcomed by certain pure and hard fans. For what? Well, it seems that the M11-V is the very first M-Series camera to abandon the emblematic optical telefilp, replacing it with an electronic viewfinder (EVF).
The news is graceful of Leica Rumors, which emphasizes that the latest beta version of the Leica Fotos application contains references to a M11-V model. This suggests that an official announcement is imminent – perhaps some time in the coming weeks. In the past, Leica Rumors has published disclosed images that seem to show a M camera M with a large rear touch screen, a clean upper plate, no ISO dial and an EVF. It also seems to be a little smaller than the previous M-Series models.
Leica has, of course, produced many cameras with EVFs in the past, such as its premium compacts Q3 and Q3 43 and its SL series of L – L -mirror without mirror, the last, Leica SL3 -S, Techradar has only examined recent. But, so far, the M series has remained firmly televised only.
Home on the range?
Telemeters offer a unique photographic experience, encouraging the user to engage more fully with the subject thanks to a concentration on the divided image manual, and this experience is a huge part of what makes Leica M-System cameras if appreciated.
The act of composing and taking a photo on a camera in the M series is not like anything other than I lived in photography, and it is the only thread that goes back to the very first camera in the analog M series that emerged in the 1950s.
The replacement of the rangefinder with an EVF will undoubtedly ration the whole process of shooting a M camera (even if I suspect that the M11-V will remain a manual focus), but I also think that it may remove one of the key reasons to choose another full body.
I am barely a red fanatic fanatic, I think that the M series is outside the “normal” digital cameras, and all this is due to the rangefinder.
There are other reasons why people love the M series, such as the superb range of first-class m-mut manual objectives, timeless design and impeccable quality of construction. The M11-V cannot interfere with one of these aspects, but an M series which is more like a “standard” mirror camera will undoubtedly prove a controversial beast.
However, despite my own reservations, I can’t help but think of the possibilities that could come from the association of these objectives with a small light m body.
