Life is not fair, I know. But as a person whose musical listening is mainly based on the desktop, I am jealous of the players today: why do they get small planar magnetic speakers before the audio obsessives like me?
The new Sony pulse is the first planar speakers for game configurations and promise large specifications for modern speakers: low latency connectivity, antibrient microphones, multi-apparents, integrated battery, etc.
But according to Sony, they also present something much more interesting: “planar magnetic pilots inspired by the studio”. This means that they have the same type of drivers as some of the best over-ear headphones that require large sums of money to buy.
These are in no case the first planar speakers in the world – the Magneplanar entered production in 1969 and its successors are still in production today – but at best my knowledge, they are the first laptops. And planar magnetic speakers are very important because technology offers incredibly precise and realistic sound.
So, how did Sony beat the big audio brands in punch?

I hope that the speakers are as exciting as they seem to be – and that they are only the first in addition to options. I would love to see a small planar option among the best Bluetooth speakers, or a more robust option that ranks among the best Wi-Fi speakers, providing audiophile technology of compact size.
