- Rumor dit mini 5 pro is the latest model in the long-standing ultra-light range of Dji
- Antigravity A1 is the first 360 video drone in the world in the world
- The two drones should be released in early 2026
Fans of camera drones like me are really spoiled at the moment (well, perhaps not those who live in the United States, but it is for another time). Not only has the antigravity of the newcomer entered the market with its A1, a brand new type of drone, but online leaks and rumors strongly suggest that DJI is about to launch the mini 5 pro.
As a person who reviews drones to make a living, you would probably assume that these two, I would be more excited by antigravity A1. After all, it is the first drone in the world, and adopts an approach completely different from the creation of videos and photos.
In addition, it is controlled in a completely different way from most drones, using the VR glasses helmet and a handful of movement with a hand to bring FPV flight to a large audience. (Of course, Dji has already done something similar with the avata, but it is a specialized drone – the A1 is very underway on the masses.)
On the other hand, the rumor DJI Mini 5 Pro is only the last iteration of a series of small folding drones which date back to DJI Mavic Mini, launched in 2019.
We get a new mini drone most of the years, and there is nothing particularly surprising in one of the alleged specifications or features of the mini 5 pro. All seem exactly the kind of logical progression that I expect to make Dji do in the next model of the mini-series.
So why am I much more excited by the prospect of the arrival of the mini 5 pro than that of the A1? Admittedly, for a slightly jaded drone reviewer, the attraction of the box of the brand new box should prevail over the reassuring reliability of another version of Dji?
The fact is that – assuming leaks are correct, of course – the DJI Mini 5 Pro simply seems the perfect drone for most people, while antigravity A1 is an unknown quantity with great bow.
Mini drone, maximum anticipation
The mini 5 pro has so much to do. There is the DJI hardware and software pedigree, perfected over more than a decade of production of affordable and friendly camera drones.
If the leaks are correct, the mini 5 pro will be the first drone of less than 250g to come with a 1 -inch camera sensor – something that would have been considered impossible a few years ago.
To put it in perspective, the lightest current drone to have a 1 inch sensor is the DJI Air 2S, which weighs 595 g. The rumor says that the mini 5 pro would weigh less than half, which places it in a category of drones subject to much fewer restrictions – especially in my country of origin of the United Kingdom.
Unless they have undertaken a specialized training, pilots based in the United Kingdom cannot pilot a drone weighing more than 250 g above people who are not involved, horizontally closer than 50m of people not involved, or more than 150 m of residential, recreational, commercial or industrial sites. In a place also densely populated and built like the south-east of England, where I live, which excludes almost wherever you may want to fly.
Weight for that …
With a drone of less than 250g, however, the above rules do not apply. You can fly over people (except when they are in the crowd) and control your drone in all the areas mentioned above. Thus, for lovers and occasional leaflets (in other words, most drone users), it is logical to buy a drone of 249 g or less.
This meant compromises on the quality and features of the camera, but with the specifications described in the mini 5 pro leaks, such as the 4K 120FPS video, I do not think there are many compromises that will be required. And this does not even mention the improvement of the characteristics of lifespan and safety, including the LIDAR for night navigation, mentioned in leaks.
In simple terms, the DJI Mini 5 Pro presents itself as the drone that most British drone users were waiting. This is the one I know that I have been waiting for a long time.
Speaking of rules and regulations, one thing about antigravity A1 that many may not realize, is that its control system based on glasses obliges pilots to bring a second person as a “observer”[whenofawhen[lorsduvol[whenflying
In most countries, you must keep your drone in the visual vision line at any time, except when you use glasses – when you have to have someone else with you to keep both eyes on your drone. As a person who usually steals solo, it creates something of a problem for me.
I must also say that nothing of what I said above means that I am less than happily the pleasure of testing antigravity A1. I have long been a fan of what Insta360 has achieved with its 360-degree action cameras, such as Insta360 X5, so that the prospect of driving a drone equipped with the same panoramic video capture and post-production cropping is really, really convincing.
As I said earlier, American camera drones fans have a lot to hope for at the moment. But for me, the DJI Mini 5 Pro has the advantage for its practice and sounds like the drone that I am more likely to buy.
