- We heard more details on the Android upgrades of Chromeos at the Snapdragon Summit 2025
- Snapdragon fleas will feed chromebooks with the new operating system
- CEO of Qualcomm Cristiano Amon qualified the “incredible” operating system
Qualcomm has just accommodated Snapdragon Summit 2025, and the vice -president of Google platforms and devices, Rick Osterloh, went on stage to speak more of Android integrated in Chromeos – with the CEO of Qualcomm by calling the “incredible” computer.
For a long time there are rumors that Google will closely combine Chromeos with Android – here is an article that we wrote almost a decade ago – but in an interview with us earlier, the president of Google of the Android ecosystem, Sameer Samat, officially revealed that Google “was going to combine Chromeos and Android in a single platform”.
Since Google manufactures the two operating systems, they were already very closely linked, but Google plans to go beyond the binding of platforms and build chromeos above Android.
As Rick Osterloh from Google said at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 (via 9TO5GOOGLE), “we are building a common technical basis for our products on PCs and office computer systems”. This, says Google, will allow it to better take advantage of its AI developments through its ecosystems by simplifying the efforts of its software engineers. Rather than building the integration of Gemini for Android and Gemini integration for Chrome, it must simply do the work once.
Closer integration should also mean that Android applications can be carried out natively on Chromeos rather than counting on an Android virtual machine emulator, as has been the case so far.
We have not yet seen what the new Chromeos and Improved will reserve us, but the CEO of Qualcomm has clearly, saying: “It’s incredible. I think it gives the vision of conversions in the mobile and the PC. And I can’t wait to have one. ” Based on the summit comments, what we will see will be based on Qualcomm PC chipsets and could happen as soon as possible.
High praise, although comments like this should obviously be taken with a pinch of salt – Qualcomm is associated in close collaboration with Google on Chromeos and other projects like Android XR. He has a skin in the game and is therefore unlikely to take any criticism of his partner’s efforts.
However, as I mentioned, I hope these comments mean that new Chromeos are almost ready to see the light of day, and that we can judge the operating system for ourselves. We have your fingers crossed and are ready to give you our thoughts as soon as we can try the new operating system.
