Apple may only reveal the 13-inch and 15 inch MacBook Air with M4 yesterday, March 5, 2025, but I obtained an early overview, putting my eyes and my hands on the last laptop of the Cupertino-based technology giant.
While the main functionality is in the name – the M4 chipset – Two other things have completed in my mind: the new blue sky shade, which has a unique quality and this more affordable price.
I could not make a formal, in itself, but here are my thoughts after seeing the new 13 -inch and 15 inch MacBook Air in the four colors, as well as some photos and videos in action.
Sky Blue really looks beautiful
I did not expect a brand new color for the MacBook Air, but I am delighted to see Apple extend the range. Of course, I just want a few additional shades to have been inaugurated, potentially more vibrant colors like the pink and orange of the iMac. We can dream.
In person, the sky blue shade is really delicious and almost an optical illusion. Depending on the way in which light strikes it, it can sometimes seem silver. It is not a vibrant blue or a darker as midnight, but rather, it emerges as a light and pastel-y of turquoise.
In addition, as much as I would like a macBook Air Ultramarine hitting like the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus, this is not the case here.
While Apple inaugurates the sky blue with MacBook Air color options, it replaces the gray space. So, if you don’t want the new color, your options are Starlight, Silver or Midnight – you can see them in the gallery below.
Apple added its special anodization process at midnight with the M2 model to help reduce and eliminate fingerprints – the mileage sometimes varied here. This is unchanged with the M4, but there is no such finish on the Sky Blue MacBook Air.

Even so, Sky Blue does a very good job to hide fingerprints and spots on the outer shell. It is a natural property of this shade and materials here.
If I had to buy a MacBook Air right now, I would choose Sky Blue for one or the other size. It’s a great shade – not too poppy or vibrant, just the right amount of color to add a flair. Please do not break a plastic box outside; The stickers are good, however.
I hope that with everything that will follow – maybe it’s M5 MacBook Air? – Apple deploys some additional shades.
A formal yield for the price
In the United States, the 13-inch MacBook Air starts at $ 999 for the M4, 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage chip. This same model costs £ 999 in the United Kingdom or $ 1,699 in Australia, which is actually a price drop, and Apple really extends the value here. It is even better than when the MacBook Air M1 was deployed.
Although I did not spend a lot of time playing with MacOS on these MacBook tunes, I have no doubt about the performance of the M4 chip. I saw demos by playing a game and masking in Pixelmator Pro without skipping a rhythm or dropping frames.
When I reviewed the IMAC as well as Matthew Hanson from Techradar with the Mac Mini and launched Ulanoff with the 14 -inch MacBook Pro last October – all with variations in M4 – speeds and performance was quick.
I have the feeling that for the price, the MacBook Air will be the obvious choice for most people – even for the 15 inches, from $ 1,199 / £ 1,1 1999 $ 2,099 to, which also obtained a price drop.

In addition to the new color and the M4 chip, Apple has also made another modification of the MacBook Air: the upgrade of the facetime camera to a lens of 12 megapixels with the support of centersttage.
I quickly tested this. While I moved the MacBook Air up or down, the camera frame was quickly moving to keep me in the video (it does it via a harvest of a much wider 12MP video frame). It is good to have, and since the front of the stage also arrives on the MacBook Pro with the M4, it is a good shape to sink it to the MacBook Air.
I would like Apple to at least offer the nano-texture option here, because it works very well on the MacBook Pro. While I am there, increasing the basic storage to 512 GB would also be good. In the current state of things, I think it is one of MacBook’s best tunes, but the price drop in the M4 chip in the brilliant shade of blue.
