Boox, the manufacturer of some of the best border and tablets to write E, has just announced his very first PC color instructor. Called the Boox Mira Pro, it uses an Enk Kaleido 3 25.3 inch screen that emulates the appearance of paper – a screen technology already used in several popular listed borders, including the Kindle Colorsoft and the color Kobo Libra.
Like the readers, the Mira Pro is lit at the front rather than having a backlight as on LCD screens, with the ability to adjust both the brightness and the temperature of the light (hot or cold). There is also a dedicated refresh button to minimize ghosts which can be a major problem on electronic paper screens. This paper type panel will also reduce reflections and reflections.
To strengthen its monitor identification information, the Mira Pro also has a pair of integrated speakers and five ports, including USB-C, HDMI, Mini HDMI and Displayport. You can also get a Mira Pro version to support the operating system you use, whether Windows, Mac or Linux.
This is almost everything for the main references of the Mira Pro, which is essentially a color version of the Boox Mira in black and white which was launched in 2023.
Easy reading
I am a big supporter of the borders due to the ink screens they use, whether in gray or color levels. For passionate readers like me, they are “easy on the eyes”, allowing you to read correctly to bedtime. So, wouldn’t it be well if there was an ENK PC monitor who did not submit my eyes as much for about eight hours as I spend working?
As a photographer, I would not use an ENK E screen to modify my photos because the colors would be too soft and unsaturated, but I can absolutely see it integrate into my workflow in the office, which is mainly as editor -in -chief of articles for Techradar. It would replace the 24 -inch aging Dell monitor that I have currently set up in the vertical orientation specifically for the editing of articles because it has major viewing angle problems.
Checking the drafts written in a Google document by one of the editors of my team would be fantastic on an ink display. I have already tried to do it on an ENK E screen, although on that of 10 inches on the Boox Go 10.3 because it allows me to connect to my Google Drive account. However, this is not the easiest device to type (and I cannot write on Google Docs on it), so a dedicated monitor that connects transparently with my MacBook and other peripherals would be good.
Do you have spare watches?
It is the limited use of an ENK E screen which makes me question its launch price of $ 1,899.99 / $ 2 499 (approximately £ 1,400). I am also a little concerned with how the display E Ink Kaleido 3 on the Mira Pro could have been optimized to display the 4,096 colors of its palette.
Although Color Boox Ereders is good – and I have tested a lot – I think Kobo did a better job to fully use Kaleido 3 technology. Thus, although the Mira Pro is just enough for my specific case, I suspect that other users would find it missing.
In addition, on the basis of my previous experience with Boox Ererders (color or monochrome), the company has not always been able to minimize ghosts – except on the Boox Palma – despite the supply of several refresh rates which can be applied on a basis by application. Would the refresh button be better? Well, I cannot say with certainty because I have not tried the Mira or the Mira Pro.
As high as the price may seem, considering in particular the limits of such a screen, it seems to be a little, a little tied with the prices of the premises. For example, 10 -inch ink monochrome writing tablets such as the Kindle 2024 scribe and the remakeable 2 SELL for more than $ 400 / £ 370 $ 600 at, while the Color Notik Paper Pro (which uses a personalized version of the new technology E Ink Gallery 3) will collect $ 579 / £ 559 / £ 929 $ 929 Extrapolate these prices for a 25 -inch screen and throw the cost of the stand and I can see why it is so high.
And customers in the United States will also have to take into account the potential prices, so expect to pay more than the launch price listed.
Despite the high price, I would be very excited to have something like that on my desk.
