Grossi also highlighted the recent commissioning of the Chashma Unit-5 nuclear power plant (C-5) as an important step in Pakistan in its efforts to improve clean and sustainable energy production.

Recalling his visit to Pakistan earlier this year, Grosi described the first concrete to flow on a new nuclear site in February 2025 as a “major step” in the push of Pakistan for clean and lasting energy.

The two officials have also examined the current collaboration areas in the IAEA key initiatives, including the Atoms4Food program – which uses nuclear technology to increase crop yields, improve food security and manage the fight against pests – and rays of hope, which aims to improve access to nuclear medicine and radiotherapy for cancer care, in particular Asian-Pacific.

Grossi appreciated the proactive commitment of Pakistan with the agency, in particular in training, capacity building and the application of nuclear knowledge for socio-economic development. He noted that Pakistan remains an appreciated partner in the progress of peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology.
