This week has been surprisingly quiet in the tech world. We just had this little event called CES 2026, not sure if you’ve heard of it?
All joking aside, CES is the biggest tech show of the year and, as you might expect, a lot of news has come out of it. From Lego Smart Play to Samsung’s TriFold, it was something else.
7. We selected our best gadgets from CES 2026
This week has been a fever dream of AI robot bartenders and musical popsicles – and it’s all thanks to CES 2026. The Las Vegas staple is still the biggest tech show of the year, but what are the best new products we’re actually going to buy?
Luckily, our tech experts were on the ground at CES 2026 and curated their highlights on everything from TVs to fitness trackers and robot vacuums. If you want to see the potential stars of this year’s gadgets – or just get a taste of what’s to come – be sure to read our roundup below.
6. Lego got an upgrade
Lego announced a major upgrade to its bricks this week with the Smart Brick. This special block can detect special sensors inside certain minifigures and tile pieces to activate sounds, flashlights, and generally enhance the play functionality of Lego sets in ways we’ve never seen before.
The Smart Brick is making its debut in Star Wars sets, and has done so to fairly mixed reactions, but TechRadar’s Jacob Krol was able to see the piece first-hand and thinks it could be a fantastic new option in Lego’s repertoire.
The first three Smart Brick sets are now available to pre-order ahead of their March 1 launch, with the cheapest option starting at $69.99 / £59.99 / AU$99.99.
5. ChatGPT received a medical update
There are now so many people using ChatGPT for health advice (40 million people per day at last count) that OpenAI finally decided to do something.
ChatGPT Health is a soon-to-be-released dedicated health section of the app where you can securely upload your medical records and receive detailed responses tailored to your specific situation. It can also pull personal health data from apps like Apple Health, if you allow it.
OpenAI views ChatGPT Health as a tool to help with your diagnosis and treatment, rather than a diagnostic tool, but for the hypochondriacs among us, it seems like the perfect way to get a second, third, or even fourth opinion.
4. IKEA made a splash at CES
IKEA made its CES debut at this year’s event, and it was a resounding success to say the least. The company had a lot of reaction to the new version of its Varmblixt donut lamp, which received a handful of clever new upgrades – but its Kallsup speaker also stood out.
One of the latest additions to the IKEA family of audio devices is an entry-level Bluetooth speaker that costs just $10. It comes in three vibrant colors, including lime green, pink, and white, and is expected to arrive in April.
While its size means its audio isn’t the most powerful, it’s still a powerful speaker in other aspects. It supports Bluetooth 5.3 and lets you connect up to 100 devices with a single tap, and it runs on rechargeable and replaceable batteries, allowing you to extend its lifespan.
3. Fujifilm released the weirdest Instax ever
After last year’s launch of the wonderfully weird mid-frame Digital X Camera, Fujifilm quickly made good on its promise to introduce more concept cameras in 2026.
The final surprise comes from the Super-8 style shape of the Instax Mini Evo Cinema, which is an instant camera like no other – the first that also shoots video and features an original ‘epochs’ dial. With decor for every decade dating back to the 1930s, the Mini Evo Cinema reproduces popular looks such as Super 8 from the 1960s and color negative from the 1980s.
We only have the press release from Fujifilm Japan to go on, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the original instant digital mirrorless camera will be available worldwide; We can’t wait to try it!
2. We saw the latest robot vacuum cleaner with legs
Robot vacuums are evolving quickly: last year, Roborock gave us one with a mechanical arm, and at CES 2026 this week, it showed off its first model with legs. Can the members of the Saros Rover do anything other than scare your dog? Well yes, actually, because they are also designed to help clean almost any staircase in the home.
According to Roborock, this will include not only straight staircases, but also spiral staircases. The Saros Rover’s climbing powers should make it a strong contender for split-level homes. Unfortunately, it’s only a prototype for now, but Roborock told us that it’s a real product that’s going to be released. Maybe warn your dog, just in case.
1. We tried the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
We got to try out Samsung’s TriFold phone, and it could finally be the pocket-sized foldable tablet it’s promised to be since its inception.
Lance Ulanoff tested the phone at CES 2026 in Las Vegas and came away impressed with its slimness and the performance it received.
Now, it’s still not perfect. The camera setup won’t impress everyone, there’s still no S Pen support and the cost is expected to be very high, but it’s definitely one of the phones to watch in 2026, and even this early in the year it could be in the running for phone of the year.
