- Google has ceased to issue Android 12 and 12L updates

Google has ceased to provide updates for Android 12, three and a half years after its launch in October 2021, so if you have older devices that always perform the software, it’s a good idea to start thinking about upgrade.
As spotted by Android Authority, then confirmed by Google, Android 12 and the tablet variant, Android 12L, were excluded from the latest series of Android safety updates. The management of these software versions was officially withdrawn on March 31, 2025.
If you still have a phone or tablet running Android 12 or Android 12L which cannot be upgraded to more recent software, it will not suddenly stop working – but it will now be more vulnerable to safety bugs and hacking attacks.
There is a strong chance that your manufacturer of devices can issue other updates, but given the age of Android 12 and Android 12L now, it is unlikely. It could therefore be the right time to offer you one of the best Android phones or better Android tablets running the last Android 15 software.

Although this is now the end of the road for Android 12, it was at some point the last and the biggest software update of Google. As with all recent Android outings, it was presented for the first time during the Google I / O event in the year of its release, in this case 2021.
