- A rumor appeared showing the RTX 5060 with a 16 GB variant
- It turned out to be a false, unfortunately
- The beginnings have doubled existing speculation: only the RTX 5060 Ti will offer 16 GB and 8 GB, the RTX 5060 having only 8 GB
NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU will not have come to a variant that has 16 GB of video ram (unfortunately, but not surprised), or it is the last of the rumor, according to a Tiktok video that raised the hopes of some players PC.
This video clip included what was claimed to be Zotac RTX 5060 boxes (and 5060 TI) which both showed 16 GB, suggesting that these two RTX 5060 flavors will offer a choice of 16 GB (as well as 8 GB).
However, it was clearly rigged, as X pointed out on the Chinese technology site and the leaked Me Mégasizegpu.
That’s wrong. There is no plan for 5060 16g, and the box is photoshopped from the latest generation Zotac box. You can see it from the DLSS3 brand and the cooler design. https://t.co/lq2ihom4k6February 8, 2025
In fact, these are latest generation GPU 4000 GPU 4000 boxes, but without detail care, because the packaging always says “ DLSS 3 ” when Nvidia went to DLSS 4 with its new Blackwell graphics cards . As the megasizegpu notes it more, the cooler design is the same as the latest generation products with these GPUs.
The current theory remains the same as before, that the RTX 5060 Ti will have a 16 GB spin, plus an 8 GB version, while the RTX 5060 vanilla will only work with 8 GB.
Benchlife claims that he has confirmed with sources in graphics manufacturers in China that the RTX 5060 will have just an 8 GB version.
Analysis: an act of complex balancing VRAM – with a separate danger of going too thin
Of course, before we get carried away by the fervor of the stride to the video of the stretcher being shed here, we must remember that even the existing rumor – which has been in place for some time – of the RTX 5060 Only 8 GB is just that: a rumor. This may not prove to be the case, but for me, it is certainly a rather credible movement of Nvidia.
After all, he would reflect the Video RAM configurations of existing RTX 4060 models. In addition to that, with the RTX 5070 having 12 GB of VRAM, it is logical to keep the RTX 5060 below (otherwise the RTX 5060 Ti – but this happened with the 4060 TI and 4070 too).
What should also be taken into account here is that the new GDDR7 video RAM on RTX 5060 models is also a great upgrade in terms of memory speed. In addition, Nvidia has its secret sauce VRAM (compression of neural texture) to help graphics cards with low capacity with the Blackwell generation, although support for this is limited, certainly to these initial stages of the lifespan of GPU RTX 5000.
All this is added to a distinct probability that Nvidia sticks to the RTX 4060 VRAM loads, because the rumors so far insisted – and we can certainly torpedo the false RTX 5060 16 GB of speculation which appeared on Tiktok.
Having only 8 GB with the RTX 4060 was quite controversial, at the launch of this GPU, so you can bet that it will be even more with the RTX 5060, if this is how it happens. There are definitively concerns and, in my opinion, valid concerns that it is not a gross capacity sufficient for something more than 1080p, despite the tips that Nvidia has in its sleeve like the compression of neural texture.
Do you want a more positive fodder of the rumor mill on the RTX 5060? It seems that on the front of the power connector, we are considering a much easier upgrade with these graphics cards than we believe before.
We must know the truth behind these GPUs early enough, since launch in March 2025 seems a strong possibility by the weight of speculation now behind this date.
