IHC Extradition questions from Islamic State Commander

Islamabad:

The High Court of Islamabad (IHC) expressed its dissatisfaction with the request of the federal government to have a petition asking for the repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, asking for how Pakistan put back alleged terrorists in the United States in the absence of any extradition treaty.

When judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan of the IHC resumed on Friday on Friday hearing the petition concerning the repatriation of Dr. Aafia, the federal government submitted a various request requesting the immediate provision of the case.

During the hearing, the extradition of the Islamic State commander Sharifullah, which was captured by Pakistan and awarded to the United States recently, was also mentioned.

Addressing the additional prosecutor general, judge Khan said that the government affirms that there is no prisoner exchange agreement with the United States, but Pakistan has given an inmate without any agreement.

“You even had the possibility of informing the court in camera concerning the possibility of extradition from Dr. Shakil Afridi to the United States [in return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui but that briefing never took place]”He said.

The court observed that two declarations had been submitted and that the government’s response was deemed unsatisfactory. Now the government is looking to have Dr. Aafia’s petition.

“In simple terms, you say you want to get rid of this case. The Prime Minister wrote a letter to the American president as required, a visa has been issued, and everything that was to be done was done. Such an approach will make the whole world aware of the position and efforts of Pakistan,” he said.

The judge noted that during the previous hearing, the Pakistan Office General Prosecutor had been responsible for providing recommendations to the government and informing the court, but now the government was asking for the case.

The court subsequently published an opinion on the various request and postponed the hearing until Friday.
