Islamabad:
Judge Inaam Ameen Minhas of the High Court of Islamabad (IHC) published an opinion from the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) and asked for a response on a various petition filed by the PTI-PLI-PLIAIVATORS OF PTI (KP).
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer, the Sultan Muhammad Khan, argued that on July 2, the ECP published a notification which calculated the seats reserved for women. He asked the court to grant PTI parliamentarians their legitimate share of seats reserved in the KP.
Justice Minhas asked if the notification in 2024 had been suspended by the Court. Lawyer Sultan Muhammad Khan replied that he had not been suspended but that the case is pending.
He asked the court to suspend the notification. Justice Minhas noticed that the notification of 2024 could not be suspended immediately.
“I will issue an opinion and let them come to explain it; we will go back to review,” he said. The court then postponed the hearing for an indefinite period. The central secretary general of PTI parliamentarians, Malik Habib Noor was also present in the courtroom.
The ruling parties won another victory on the legal front on June 28, while a constitutional bench (CB) of the Supreme Court canceled the judgment of SC on July 12, 2024, which had raised the PTI as a parliamentary party and allowed it to obtain seats reserved for the legislatures.
