IHC urges government to fill patwari posts

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) was informed on Tuesday that the Establishments Division and the Interior Ministry have approved the filling of 35 vacant patwari posts in the federal capital, but the Finance Ministry is yet to give its approval.

During the hearing, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani expressed hope that the government would fill the vacancies before the next hearing. The case concerns the employment of individuals in patwarkhanas (revenue offices) in Islamabad.

Appearing in court, State Prosecutor Abdur Rehman presented reports from the Establishment Division and the Interior Ministry, confirming that approval had been given to fill the 35 vacancies.

Justice Kayani noted that the court expected the Ministry of Finance and the government to expedite the process, stressing that delays in basic administrative matters were unacceptable.

Expressing his displeasure with individuals allegedly working in government offices, the judge said: “It seems that neither the secretaries nor anyone else is capable of handling this matter.
