Kasim Khan, son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), the founder, Imran Khan, said that his father was “very bad conditions” in Adiala prison in Rawalpindi and that he and his brother, Sulaiman Khan, sought a possible outcome.
In an interview on the American media Real America’s Voice shared on Wednesday, Khan said that his father had been incarcerated in a solitary isolation cell and only granted two hours a day to spend time in daylight. He also said that they had not been able to speak to their father.
Imran has been imprisoned since August 2023. Currently, he is serving a sentence in Adiala prison in a corruption case of 190 million pounds sterling. In addition, it faces pending tests under the anti -terrorism law (ATA) linked to the demonstrations of May 9, 2023.
“Right now, he is in really, really bad conditions and it seems that they are not becoming worse.” He “is incarcerated in a solitary isolation cell,” he added. “The state of the cell in which it is horrible, very frankly.”
He continued, alleging that Imran was shying into muddy water and that 10 people who were incarcerated there had dirty conditions. “There were times … He went 10 days without any light in his cell”. He described it as a “tactical torture”.
“We cannot speak to him at all,” he said, expressing his concern for not being able to see his father. Kasim Khan said he and his brother “turned to America for the moment” for support. “It seems that it is the only route for the moment.”
He said that during a meeting in the United States, the key assistant by American president Donald Trump, Richard Grenell, was “very kind to spend time with us”. He added: “We talked for a long time and I don’t want to go into details, but I have very, very hope.”
