Rawalpindi:

While the negotiations last only in a thread, the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, demanded a meeting on Saturday with the negotiation committee of his party before the next cycle of negotiations, scheduled for January 28.

Addressing party leaders at a meeting at Adiala prison in Rawalpindi, the PTI incarcerated supremo said that the party’s final position on dialogue would depend on the consultations with the negotiation committee.

The air around the negotiations remains in charge of uncertainty while the leaders of the PTI send mixed signals. Just a day earlier, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, president of the PTI, said that the talks had only been suspended, contradicting the previous declaration of the party that the process was completely canceled.

The PTI had initially slowed down the dialogue, accusing the government of “non-cooperation” and procrastination in the formation of a judicial commission responsible for investigating two key events: the violent demonstrations of May 9, 2023 and the repression of November 26 Against PTI workers in Islamabad. .

Meanwhile, the head of the opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz, reiterated that the PTI remains open to the resumption of talks, provided that the government forms an independent commission.

However, he said that the government was reluctant to let the truth break out. “If the government has nothing to hide, it has a golden opportunity to train the commission. Its failure to do so suggests that there is something ladle,” he said by addressing Media before Adiala prison.

He said that the government initially promised a decision within eight days, but that he had then returned by saying that this meant “eight working days”.

He said the PTI

had initiated a dialogue with sincerity, given the political and economic crises that the country is going through, as well as external and internal challenges.

Faraz deplored the government’s approach, accusing it in bad faith. “We have submitted our claims in writing, but they have never intended to continue a significant dialogue. They are more concerned with maintaining their status quo than responding to the concerns of the nation.”

The PTI legal advisor, Salman Akram Raja, speaking to the media, revealed that a detailed meeting with Imran Khan had taken place. Raja said Khan remained unshakable in his position and that the PTI was engaged in negotiations only for the good of Pakistan.

“The government has tried to weaken the PTI to the point that it could no longer appear in the elections or lead the campaign. Despite this, the nation got up on February 8 and voted for us, not only at KP but throughout Pakistan.

He said that the election results had been manipulated, describing this act as “shameful” and deplored the lack of justice on the part of the courts.

“Imran Khan has given a chance to the system, but now it has been clear: no negotiations take place until the commission is announced.”

He added that Imran was ready to meet the negotiation team but only after the training of the Commission.

“Who said that there had not been shots on November 26? People were martyred and others have disappeared. We have all the data and we will present them not only to the courts but also to the public” , he said.

The lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, legal representative of the PTI, also addressed the media outside the judicial complex, deploring procedural delays in the training of the Commission.
