Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, wrote a long letter of 349 pages to chief judge Yahya Afridi and Judge Aminuddin, addressing the questions related to violations of the rights of the ‘ man, electoral fraud and arrests of PTI workers.

Khan said that between November 24 and 27 of last year, a large number of PTI workers had been arrested. He also alleged that hospital files had been sealed and modified later to manipulate the facts.

In his letter, Khan criticized the judiciary for having failed to do justice despite repeated petitions against electoral fraud and continuous human rights violations in the last 18 months. He said that PTI workers had been subjected to forced disappearances, injuries and extrajudicial murders.

“The current government has come into power by electoral fraud and historical rigging,” he wrote. “This unconstitutional regime has imposed serious oppression on the PTI, demolish our offices and subjecting our leaders to brutal torture.”

Khan also discussed his controversial arrest on May 9, 2023, declaring that he was illegally held from the premises of the High Court of Islamabad. He accused the authorities of deliberately disseminating the arrest on television and social media to provoke public public.

He also allegedly alleged that peaceful protests against his arrest had been diverted by infiltrators who prompted violence to discredit PTI demonstrations.

Meanwhile, in response to the offer of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for negotiations, the PTI chief, Shibli Faraz, rejected the suggestion to form a chamber committee, declaring that this is not an effective approach .

Faraz criticized the PM’s position, saying that the real problem lies in the government’s attitude towards other political parties. “The proposal of a chamber committee is not a viable solution. If the government was serious about talks, a committee would have already been trained,” he said.

The senator reiterated PTI’s request for a judicial commission, stressing that such a body would inspire public confidence. “We are asking for a judicial commission because people trust it. The suggestion of the Chamber Committee is not appropriate,” he added.

He said that PTI call for negotiations aimed to mitigate the current political instability in the country. “We have accepted talks to help resolve the political crisis and stabilize the country,” he said.
