The founding president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, intends to lead a prison protest movement against the 26th constitutional amendment, while his sons Sulaiman and Qasim will join the campaign after his return from the United States, announced his sister Aleema Khan on Tuesday.

Addressing journalists outside the Adiala prison, Aleema transmitted the message of the former Prime Minister imprisoned to the supporters, saying that he had remained resolved despite the lonely isolation and the severe prison conditions.

“He [Imran Khan] said it was free inside the prison, while people outside are imprisoned, “she said, adding:” People have to go out for themselves, for democracy, for the rule of law and against the 26th amendment. Whoever cannot bear the weight of this movement should withdraw now. “

Imran, she said, had asked that the protest movement is reaching its peak on August 5-the date that will mark two years since its imprisonment.

“After the 26th amendment, all public rights were actually removed,” she added, noting that their whole family would participate in the campaign while the former Prime Minister would join the campaign after the United States returns.

“The sons of Imran Khan, Qasim and Sulaiman, will go to the United States first to educate the injustices faced by their father, then they will participate in the movement in Pakistan. Imran Khan was informed,” he said.

Aleema, accompanied by her sisters Noreen and Uzma, said that she was denied access to her brother, although other family members were finally allowed to meet him. She expressed her concern about her treatment in detention, describing her as unprecedented.

“What is done to him is different from the treatment of any other prisoner. He was refused access to television, newspapers and reading equipment for a week. His books are in the room of assistant superintendent,” she said.

She added that the founder of PTI has been detained in isolation and has not been allowed to see his doctor for ten months. “They think they can break it. But they can’t,” she said, adding that she had herself been forbidden to meet him.

Earlier in the day, dozens of PTI supporters gathered at the Gorakhpur control point while the Khan’s sisters were trying to go to the prison. Police contingents have been deployed and party workers raised slogans. The secretary general of the PTI Salman Akram Raja was also present on the scene.

While Aleema was arrested near a local hotel and was not authorized to continue, other family members finally obtained access. The former First Lady Bushra Bibi was also allowed to meet her sister-in-law Mehrunnisa.

In addition, the focal person PTI Niazullah Niazi Advocate and Mna Munawra Baloch were arrested by the police at the Dahgal checkpoint. Senator Faisal Javed and lawyer Zahor Abbas Chaudhry also refused the entrance to Gorakhpur.

However, according to party sources, Barrister Gohar, Salman Safdar and Zahor Abbas Chaudhry were then allowed to meet the former Prime Minister.

Addressing journalists before the prison meeting, Safdar said that the visit was as important as earlier. When asked why the legal team had not been able to obtain help despite more than 700 days of detention from Imran, he said: “We fight business in court and do our best.”
