Islamabad:
Incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan once again expressed his desire to speak directly with the powerful actors of the country on Thursday, saying that he was ready to “give and take” only in the interest of Pakistan.
Addressing party leaders at the Adiala prison in Rawalpindi, the founder of the PTI, while stressing that he did not seek any personal relief, said that the doors of dialogue with the establishment were open, saying that he was ready to speak at any time for the country and national unity.
PTI Senator Ali Zafar, after meeting Khan in prison, told the media that the former Prime Minister had clearly indicated that any regulation would be for the country, not for personal purposes. “There are no personal dealers and taking,” said Zafar before quoting Khan saying: “If I wanted concessions for me, I would have asked them a long time ago and would not have spent 600 days in prison.”
To a question on the recent remarks of Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, Zafar said that Khan said that any concept of a concession and taking approach would be strictly for the benefit of Pakistan. “I do not ask for any relief in my cases,” assigned Zafar to Khan, adding “I only want justice, and I want my business to be heard without delay.”
According to statements, Aleema recently called for direct interviews with the “invisible forces” to ensure the release of his brother thanks to a possible arrangement “to give and take”.
Addressing media in Islamabad, she said that the judges managing Khan’s affairs were under pressure, stressing that Khan’s affairs are on the list of causes but have not returned.
Khan, who was ousted by functions via a vote without confidence in 2022, has been in prison since August 2023. He faces a range of accusations, including corruption and encouraging violence, which, according to his party, is politically motivated.
To another question, Zafar said that Khan also confirmed that a protest campaign against the coalition led by PML-NN had already been announced and that the party would reveal its strategy in the coming days.
Zafar said Khan asked party management to prepare for the movement, warning that he would no longer stay patient if no one comes out. “No one will be allowed to play on both sides of the fence,” he said.
The renewal of the awareness of Khan came at a time when his party has not been able to obtain relief for him since he was arrested and sent behind bars in August 2023. His party says that imprisonment aims to put it aside from the national political landscape.
Nevertheless, Khan’s continuous imprisonment not only remained a rallying point for the leaders and supporters of the PTI, but has become a central problem of the party’s confrontation with the establishment.
The ditch between PTI and powerful stakeholders was obvious last Friday, while Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the chief minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, had jumped an official dinner organized by the newly educated field marshal Syed Asim Munnir-also the chief of the army staff.
As surprising as it may seem, PTI leaders were not invited for dinner to celebrate success in operation Bunyanum Mursoos. On May 10, 2025, Pakistan had launched a reprisals response to the unoriented Indian aggression, including missile strikes on the Pakistani air bases and civil zones.
