OGRA Dashboard Rolled Out to Ensure Accurate Consumption Tracking, Ministerial Committee on Petrol Prices Said
ISLAMABAD:
The Ministerial Committee on Oil Prices, in its meeting on Monday, reviewed the oil supply situation and market conditions, with emphasis on uninterrupted supply, market discipline and enhanced monitoring throughout the supply chain.
The committee meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, according to a press release issued by the Finance Ministry.
The committee has undertaken a comprehensive review of the oil stock situation, import plans and refinery operations, the statement said, adding that members were informed that the overall supply position remains stable, with diesel stocks providing around 25 days of cover, gasoline availability sufficient to meet current demand and crude oil stocks at around 12 days of cover, supported by incoming cargoes and scheduled imports.
The committee placed special emphasis on strengthening data-driven tracking and surveillance through the digital dashboard launched by OGRA, designed to provide real-time visibility of inventory levels, sales and supply conditions, from deposits to points of sale.
The dashboard is expected to serve as a central tool for tracking key indicators including sales, inventory and demand fluctuations, enabling rapid identification of supply gaps and informed decision-making.
Acknowledging the progress, the committee noted that the data reported by the outlets remains below expectations, especially considering the number of over 12,000 petrol pumps across the country, and stressed the need to fully operationalize the system to realize the expected benefits.
OGRA has been tasked with ensuring compliance with data reporting requirements, accelerating digitalization efforts across the supply chain and maintaining close coordination with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and other relevant stakeholders to support seamless implementation of the system.
In this context, PSO will further improve visibility across its retail network and will prioritize reporting coverage.
To strengthen implementation, it was decided that joint teams comprising representatives of Petroleum Division, OGRA, FIA and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) would be deployed at selected PSO petrol pumps in Islamabad to facilitate timely data entry, improve inventory transparency and ensure operational compliance.
The Petroleum Division informed the Committee that import arrangements for the coming weeks are on track.
The committee also noted the critical importance of a reliable energy supply to support key sectors such as agriculture, fertilizer production, transport and industry, highlighting its role in supporting economic activity and maintaining price stability.
In light of recent price movements, the committee emphasized constant vigilance throughout the supply chain to avoid hoarding, speculative behavior and any interruption in product availability.
The importance of close monitoring of demand patterns, including localized variations in consumption, was highlighted to support balanced supply management. The commission also highlighted the need to discourage unauthorized stockpiling and address market irregularities within the regulatory framework.
The committee also reviewed the gas supply situation, including the stock positions of SNGPL and SSGC, and discussed options for managing the availability of gas to domestic consumers and its allocation between the domestic and power sectors.
