India alerts Pakistan to the coming threats of floods

India, establishing its first major contacts with Pakistan from the ceasefire in May, Pakistan warned future floods. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “India has communicated flood warnings through diplomatic channels”.

The FO in their statement said on Monday that India had decided to communicate their warning through diplomatic channels rather than the Indus water commission, as required by the Industry Water Treaty.

This warning had encouraged the province to the management of disasters (PDMA) to the Punjab to issue a flood warning, ordering the district administrations to activate the monitoring and early alert systems.

In May, an attack that resulted in the death of 26 people in Pahalgam, led to a bitterness between the two states. India has baselessly accused Pakistan of orchestrating the attack and, consequently, suspended the Water Treaty in the Indus. Even if the treaty does not authorize any suspension provision, India has declared that it “would maintain the in suspense treaty until Pakistan abjure in a credible and irrevocably support for cross -border terrorism”.

The position of Pakistan was to remind India that no provision of this type is provided in the treaty so that all part of the suspension unilaterally. Pakistan had brought this case to the Hague Court and appealed. Pakistan won a major victory because the permanent arbitration court in June awarded an additional compensation in the ITP case, in favor of Pakistan.

Pakistan, then called on India to maintain the Industry Water Treaty and faithfully honor its bonds treated.

This warning occurs after Pakistan witnessed one of its deadliest monsoon rains, with a balance sheet of 800.
