India approached us for ceasefire, reiterates Dar

Friday, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated that India had approached the United States to negotiate a cease-fire during the recent conflict.

Addressing journalists from the capital, Dar said he was contacted by Washington after India’s intervention request. “I clearly indicated that Pakistan did not want a war, but that was imposed on us,” he said.

He said Pakistan had not asked for third -party mediation but accepted a proposal to maintain interviews with India in a neutral place. DAR stressed that any dialogue would not be limited to a program at a point, adding that all pending disputes, including cashmere, must be on the table.

DAR accused India of continuing the “saber” and rejected speculations on an imminent visit by the American Secretary of State, saying that no type of this type had been planned. He also announced that he would undertake a two -day visit to Bangladesh to further strengthen bilateral relations.
