Islamabad:
Federal Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, condemned attacks on the High Commissioner of Pakistan in London by individuals “supported by the State and Indian agencies”.
The Pakistani High Commissioner in London was vandalized as a result of demonstrations of hundreds of Indian demonstrators outside the building. The incident has led to material damage, with broken windows and saffron color paint launched on the outside of the building and its plate.
Two individuals were then arrested for their presumed involvement in violence. Pakistani supporters have also organized a counter-demonstration in response
After the attacks, security around the High Commissioner was reinforced while an investigation was underway to identify the officials of vandalism, reported state television in Pakistan.
Referring to these attacks as well as to the transnational assassination of Sikhs leaders in countries like Canada and the United States, Tarar – while addressing foreign media on Sunday – said that attacks were proof of the extremist ideology of India and hostile actions.
The Minister underlined the position of Pakistan as a first line state in the war against terrorism, declaring: “Pakistan is the victim of terrorism because no other state has made 90,000 lives in the war against terrorism.”
He said the Pakistan Armed Forces, law enforcement organizations and civilians have made huge sacrifices for national and global peace, noting that the economy has undergone losses in “hundreds of billions of dollars” due to terrorism.
“We are the wall between terrorists and the world, and Pakistan must be reinforced and supported in its war against terrorism,” he said.
“We will continue to protect our citizens of the world, and promote world peace by contravening these terrorists who try to impose their own ideology in certain areas by overthrowing the blood of civilians and the staff of the armed forces,” he noted.
