Pakistan has strongly criticized the recent remarks of India on the violations of minority rights, declaring that a country constantly violating the rights of its own minorities is unable to defend these rights on the world scene.
In response to the comments formulated by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs of Lok Sabha concerning the situation of minorities in Pakistan, the spokesman for Pakistan for Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, said that India’s own history of minorities disqualize them by criticizing other countries, reported by the news.
“India has no position to act as a champion of minority rights, given its own series violations,” said Khan. He added that if Pakistan State institutions actively strive to protect the rights of minorities, incidents targeting minorities in India often occur with tacit approval or the complicity of the ruling factions.
The spokesperson has also urged India to focus on resolving its own gaps rather than pointing the finger at other countries. “Instead of expressing its concerns about minorities abroad, India should take concrete measures to protect its own minorities, including Muslims and other vulnerable groups, and ensure the security of their places of worship, cultural heritage and fundamental rights,” the statement said.
In addition to responding to the remarks of India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed its condolences on the devastating earthquake that hit Myanmar, Thailand and neighboring regions, claiming the lives of more than 1,000 people.
“Our hearts go to all the people affected by this tragedy,” said the spokesperson. “We want rapid recovery to the injured and recommend the efforts of courageous people and emergency stakeholders involved in rescue and rescue operations.”
