SIALKOT:
The Minister of Defense, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, said on Saturday that the recent military operation along the eastern border of Pakistan represents a historic stage, unrivaled in the 78 years of history of the country and has credited him to restore national unity and confidence.
He was addressed to a group of students and teachers, who had come to congratulate him on his residence for the success of Operation Bunyan-Un-Marsos, a coordinated response of the military forces of Pakistan to hostilities by India.
“Our eternal and perpetual enemy is seated a few kilometers through the eastern border, licking his wounds,” he said. “God wants, our enemies on the Western Front will soon suffer the same fate.”
Khawaja Asif said it was no longer necessary to respond to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “What is said of him through India today, we could not have said it better,” he added, referring to an increasing internal dissatisfaction with India.
He credited the operation to unite the country at a time when the visible cracks had appeared in the national fabric. “Fifteen or twenty days ago, we saw cracks in our national unity. Today, by the grace of God, the nation is united, and this unit now carries the mark of the bravery of our armed forces. I greet them,” he said.
The minister prolonged his congratulations to the main military leaders, including the chief of staff of the army Gen Asim Munnir, the chief marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar, the chief of the Naveed Ashraf navy and the chairman of the joint chief of staff Gen SHUHSHAD, for their courage and joint management during the operation.
“I have witnessed very narrow neighborhood conflicts – from the war from 1965 to today – but I have never seen leadership so charged with emotion and spiritually,” he said. “It is your leadership that inspired the strength to our soldiers. I am a direct witness to your resolution and your bravery.”
Asif also congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for standing shoulder the armed forces at all times of the crisis.
“He directed the nation,” said the military that the civil government fully supports them and assured them that it stands next to them with a force of 250 million people, “said the minister.
“No matter how far we have to go to defend the fatherland, we are united under a single banner.”
He warned that the nations that forget their history are themselves forgotten by history.
