The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, claiming that the country is not inclined to violence and responded to Indian military actions with responsibility and restraint.

The recent escalation started after India has led air strikes at Punjab and Azad Jammu-et-Cachemire (AJK) on May 6 to 7, which killed more than 30 civilians. In response, Pakistan killed five Indian hunting planes and has intercepted several drones.

Subsequent Indian strikes on Pakistani military targets on May 9 prompted Islamabad to launch “Bunyan Marsoos operation”, targeting Indian military facilities while avoiding civil infrastructure.

In an interview with RT Arabic, Lieutenant-General Chaudhry said that “Pakistan is not a violent nation”, adding that the absolute priority of the country remains peace.

The CEO ISPR revealed that the ceasefire had been requested by an Indian defense official and facilitated by American mediation. He congratulated the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan during the dead end, calling them ripe and effective.

He also criticized India for rejecting Pakistan’s call for a neutral investigation into the attack by Pahalgame at Iiojk, for which New Delhi blamed Islamabad without presenting evidence. “India has refused a logical and impartial investigation and rather uses missile attacks on civilian targets,” he said.

The head of the ISPR also accused India of sponsor terrorism in Pakistan, in particular through groups operating in Balutchistan.

He reiterated that the armed forces of Pakistan remain determined to protect the sovereignty of the country and will act decisively against any aggression.
