Islamabad: While tensions degenerate between neighboring countries following a Pahalgam attack, Pakistan has closed its airspace for Indian airlines forcing long-haul flights to India to land in other countries for supply, sources of aviation said on Friday.
Pakistan closed its airspace for Indian planes at 6 p.m. one day ago. The closure has already had an impact on several flights.
A Sharjah flight in Amritsar would have been redirected before entering the Pakistani airspace near Turbat, the sources said.
A flight from the Indian airline on India to India was forced to land in Ahmedabad to take additional fuel after crossing the Gulf of Oman.
According to sources, the sources said a flight from the Indian airline (AI 190) from Toronto to India had to land in Copenhagen to supply. Likewise, an Indian airline flight from Paris to Delhi landed in Abu Dhabi for the same goal. Sources have also indicated that theft of Indian airlines (AI 162) from London to India has made a refueling stop in Abu Dhabi.
The closure of Pakistan airspace leads to considerable logistical challenges and an increase in operational costs for Indian airlines.
The Federal Minister of Information and Radiation Attaullah Tarar said on Thursday that Pakistan airspace had been closed to India, which would eventually result in millions of dollars of losses for Indian airlines.
However, this decision came in response to the controversial measures taken by New Delhi, in particular by diverting the flow of water legally belonging to Pakistan. The duration of the airspace closure is also currently unknown.
“Pakistan airspace will be closed with an immediate effect for all Indian or Indian airlines. All exchanges with India, including towards any third country, by Pakistan, are immediately suspended,” the government announced after the high -level meeting of the National Security Committee in Islamabad.

India has also suspended the Industry Water Treaty which has regulated the sharing of water from the Indus river and its tributaries. Pakistan warned that any attempt to stop or divert water will be considered an act of war and has met “full force”.
Pakistan has interrupted all bilateral agreements and suspended all trade with India, including towards and from any third country. He closed his airspace to all airlines belonging to Indians and Indians.
