Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has expressed keen interest in leveraging the training ecosystem and aerospace development infrastructure of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to strengthen his country’s defense capabilities, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
The Indonesian President expressed his interest during his meeting with Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Air Force.
“During the meeting, the Air Chief highlighted the shared values and long-standing brotherhood between Pakistan and Indonesia, and President Prabowo expressed keen interest in leveraging the PAF’s cutting-edge training ecosystem and aerospace development infrastructure to strengthen Indonesia’s defense capabilities,” the statement said.
Earlier, the air chief held separate high-level meetings with Defense Minister Lt. Gen. (ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Indonesian Air Marshal. He received the guard of honor at all venues.
During the discussion with the Indonesian Air Chief, the two sides discussed strengthening cooperation between air forces, joint training from basic to advanced level, professional exchanges and collaboration in emerging aerospace fields.
The Indonesian air chief sought support from the PAF to advance operational and flight training, recognizing the PAF’s rich combat experience.
The air chief was awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest honor of the Indonesian Air Force, in recognition of his role in strengthening bilateral air power cooperation.
The air chief also held a joint meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Defense and the Chief of Defense Force, during which a wide range of defense and security issues were discussed.
Indonesian leaders appreciated the professionalism and commitment to modernization of the PAF and praised the advanced technological infrastructure of the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park.
