“It’s not good news, in the penultimate game of overtime, Bo broke a bone in his right ankle. He is scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday of this week, which will sideline him for the remainder of the season,” Payton said.
If the penultimate play of the game is truly what Payton was referring to, then that would be the play in which the Broncos simply took a knee before scoring the game-winning field goal. The play just before that, Nix threw an incompletion that resulted in a 30-yard pass interference on Buffalo, which put the Broncos within field goal range.

Payton said Broncos backup Jarrett Stidham will start at quarterback for Denver in next week’s AFC championship game at Mile High Stadium against the winner of Sunday’s Patriots-Texans divisional game.
