Better known for its 360-degree handled cameras, Insta360 is now looking to enter your home or work office with the wave, a speaker with a touch of AI.
The Insta360 wave is essentially a professional quality speaker, such as those you could find in a meeting room in the corporate office, with a 3D range of eight microphones and the possibility of collecting Hi-Fi 48 kHz audio at 16 feet. Adaptive beam formation, active acoustic cancellation and automatic control of earnings are also included to help provide natural sound without disturbing audio tips.
A touch screen interface allows rapid control on microphones and volume, and adaptive beam formation allows users to decide from five collection models, which Insta360- details:
- Omni: 360 degree collection for group discussions.
- Cardioid: Targeted front capture for online meetings and podcasts.
- Supercardioid: Even further removes ambient noise, perfect for busy offices.
- Figure 8: Capture at the front and back, ideal for interviews with two people.
- Stereo: Broad and natural audio for creative recordings such as ASMR or music.
But then the AI is added to supply the characteristics of noise reduction to cut more than 300 different types of background sound, depending on Insta360, such as keyboard taps and street noise. And the “Déréverbération of AI” is used to eliminate hollow or distant tones from the desired audio and provide crisp and true sound to life in its place.
Part of the “secret sauce” with the wave is the possibility of associating it with the Insta360 Link 2 webcam, effectively creating a complete audio and video configuration which will not require a professional installation or a load of people who look at the webcam of a laptop.
It seems intelligent
However, what marked me were the intelligent tools of the wave. It can use AI to transcribe in 99 languages, identify the speakers and label their voices, set up glossaries specific to work and summary of meetings, and exploit the Chatgpt and Google Gemini to offer chat and questions / answers on AI.
The wrinkle here is that many of these features will have to be paid for the professional plan to make the most of it; It costs $ 99.99 per year or $ 17.99 per month in the United States.
Although meetings could be the target use of the wave, I could also see it used as a strong and intelligent podcasting tool for people in person with several people. Given the way in which there is apparently an endless quantity of podcasts, with more and more people or organizations in space, Techradar included, the wave could be an excellent podcasting tool.
It is on sale today with prices from $ 299.99 / £ 279 / $ 519.99 in. And my colleagues on Techradar Pro will soon have an examination of the wave.
