- Intel has announced that its application in unison would be interrupted at the end of June
- It was an alternative to the Windows 11 telephone link functionality
- It was better in some respects – especially for iOS users, and with more rationalized application – it is therefore sad to see a viable alternative
Intel aimed to link your phone with your Windows 11 PC – the application in unison – is closed, with Team Blue announcing that it will be interrupted for most users in late June 2025.
The latest Windows reports that Intel has made the announcement in the Microsoft store list for the application, declaring that: “Intel Undison will soon be interrupted. The first step in its final sales process is the service of most platforms at the end of June 2025. Lenovo will have platforms will keep the service until 2025. ”
If you scratch your head and think “I have never heard of intel unison” well, you wouldn’t be alone there. In a word, this is the Intel version of the integrated functionality of Windows 11 known as the telephone link application.
The telephone link and unison offer the possibility of accessing the iOS or Android smartphone features on the desktop of your Windows 11 PC. In the case of intel unison, the basic capacities are covered, such as responding to texts, see notifications, make calls and file transfer operations if you want to move, say, a photo of your phone to PC for PC for image editing purposes.
As the latest notes notes, the Intel Unison key force is better implementation on the iOS side (indeed, it has supported Apple smartphones since deactivation, when Microsoft’s taking on this formula has not done for a while). It is also a more rationalized application, and quite well appreciated by those who use it – the examination notes for unison on the Microsoft Store are currently higher than for the own Microsoft solution.
In any case, if you use in unison, you will soon have to abandon the application, so you can watch the telephone link in a few months.
Windows has spoken to the sources and says that even if officially on June 30 is the day when unison is interrupted, it could continue to function properly on certain devices for a little later – or at least certain parts of the application could. Before a long time, however, it will be completely deactivated, so you might as well start getting used to this idea now.
Analysis: Disunification in progress
Intel Untise will have lasted two years (almost) when the application is canned (Team Blue launched it in August 2023). It will be a shame for some people to see it, because there are reports that it works more easily than the telephone link not only for iPhones, but also for Android devices – due to some of the online comments of the application, anyway. (I didn’t use it myself).
If this is the first time you hear about Intel in unison, then obviously it is a little late to learn the application now. Although it was not something I had heard of before either, and in unison stolen under my radar – and I suppose that is part of the problem, and the reason why it was abandoned. The other probable reason here is that, like the latest Windows indications, this is probably part of the Intel cost reduction measures, the Blue team to considerably rationalize its business, as we saw with all the very unhappy (and more) layoffs last year.
Compared to intel unison, the advantage of the telephone link is that it offers more advanced features – especially for Samsung smartphones, of course, but for all phones more widely. And this includes the most recent step of integration of the telephone link directly into the Start menu, placing it at the front and in the center of the Windows 11 interface.
In short, the telephone link is not going anywhere, and Microsoft will surely strengthen it in the future – so it is unlikely that unison would have followed this rhythm anyway. However, for those who wanted a simple alternative, and a rationalized application which covered the basics – and, according to all the accounts, covered them with an application of Intel – but it will obviously not be the case.
