Since the announcement of iOS 26 in June, it has been through several beta test cycles before its full version scheduled for next month, and we now know that it will bring an additional bonus to existing iPhone 16 handsets: faster wireless load.
As macrumors have spotted, iOS 26 unlocks all the capabilities of the Qi2 wireless load standard on the iPhone 16, which means wireless load speeds up to 25W on Qi chargers. Previously, the limit was 15 W.
To get the best load speeds, you need several different elements to align yourself: phone hardware, load standard and software management. The Qi2 standard was built in the handsets of the iPhone 16 when they launch last September, then updated to support 25W in July.
Currently, this upgrade of 25W has not been unlocked on the 16 iPhone series – you can only obtain 25W wireless charges of the official Apple Magsafe loaders. When iOS 26 is deployed in its entirety, this will change.
Wireless booss all around
Thanks to improved charging capacities, you can get an iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro up to 50% zero battery in as little as 30 minutes, according to Apple’s own figures for its range of Magsafe products.
Belkin quickly moved and published three new charges to take advantage of the incoming update. It is not yet something that Apple has specifically referred, although it could change at the end of the beta period iOS 26.
This also confirms that the iPhone 17 handsets will support the latest Qi2.2 standard, with a wireless charge up to 25W, as has been widely planned – although the third -party charger support obtains a bump up to 25W, we could see Magsafe’s capacities to go up to 50W, according to a leak.
It is almost certain that Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 series in September, and the indications are that something could happen around September 9. As always, we will bring you all the news and ads as they occur.
