- A new report predicts that the foldable iPhone will be at a price of $ 1,999
- This is lower than previous estimates, but would always make it the most expensive iPhone of all time
- A folding screen will be a key sales argument, says the report
Apple will launch its foldable iPhone in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18, and it will be the most expensive iPhone to date with a price of $ 1,999 in the United States, according to a new report.
Apple’s next foldable is one of the biggest open secrets in the phone industry right now, but there is still a good amount of uncertainty surrounding its release date and its price.
Now, a JP Morgan report has revealed what would be the target price of the company for the device, which was nicknamed the iPhone fold.
In a note to customers seen by CNBC, JP Morgan Samik Chatterjee analyst wrote that Apple was targeting an American price of $ 1,999 for the device. It is well above the current price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max – Apple’s most expensive iPhone at the moment, and one of its best – that will make you go back at least $ 119.
It is also much more than what you will pay for a MacBook Pro, which starts at $ 1,599.
Chatterjee’s prediction is the price range that has recently been rumor for iPhone fold. We have seen $ 1,800 suggested at the bottom of the range, while the higher estimate is currently about $ 2,500. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 also starts at $ 1,999, putting it in a similar territory.
Elsewhere in his report, Chatterjee predicts that the upgrades of the iPhone 17 range of this year will be “quite limited”. This widely faced what we have heard elsewhere, although recent rumors predicted a significant upgrade of the camera for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
Pay a premium
As for what customers will get for their money, Chatterjee says that the iPhone fold will have a key advantage over its rivals: a folding screen. It has already been supposed to, and Samsung would also work there for its own foldable in 2026.
Chatterjee thinks that the iPhone fold will be delivered with a 7.8 -inch interior screen and a 5.5 inch outdoor screen. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an internal 8 -inch screen and a 6.5 inch outdoor screen.
In terms of millions of units sold, Chatterjee believes that the iPhone fold will reach the “bass adolescents” in this area by 2027, this figure reaching the mid -1940s by 2029. If correct, it is a considerable sale piece – perhaps indicating that the premium pricing of the iPhone fold will not be such a barrier to remember after all.
