- Iran is the first talks with the Western powers since the Israeli United States in the United States.
- The main expiration of conferences is the expiration of the United Nations resolution on October 18.
- Optimistic IAEA inspectors can return this year.
Iran said that it would continue nuclear talks with the European powers after serious, frank and detailed conversations “on Friday, the first face-to-face meeting of this type since Israel and the United States bombed Iran last month.
Before the meeting in Istanbul, Iran also rejected suggestions for the extension of the United Nations resolution which ratifies a 2015 agreement, approaching expiration, which was designed to brake its nuclear program.
The delegations of the European Union and the so-called E3 group of France, Great Britain and Germany met Iranian counterparts for about four hours to the Iranian consulate for talks which, according to the UN nuclear guard dog, could provide an opening to use the inspections in Iran.
Iran, Europeans presents ideas
The Iranian Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Kazem Gharibada later said that the two parties had presented specific ideas on the relief of sanctions and the nuclear problem.
“While seriously criticizing their positions concerning the recent war of aggression against our people, we explained our positions in principle, including on the so-called Snapback mechanism,” he said.
“It has been agreed that the consultations on this issue would continue.”
European countries, as well as China and Russia, are the remaining parties to the 2015 agreement – from which the United States withdrew in 2018 – which raised sanctions to Iran in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program.
A deadline of October 18 approaches quickly when the resolution governing this agreement expires.
At this stage, all UN sanctions against Iran will be lifted unless the “Snapback” mechanism is triggered at least 30 days ago. This would automatically repress these sanctions, which would target the hydrocarbon sectors at the bank and the defense.
To give the time that it occurs, the E3 has established a deadline at the end of August to relaunch diplomacy. Diplomats say they want Iran to take concrete measures to convince them to extend the deadline up to six months.
Europeans want nuclear commitments from Iran
Iran should make commitments on key issues, including any discussions with Washington, complete cooperation with the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA) and 400 kilograms (880 pound) accounts of strikes of the month of the month of last month.
Before the talks, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Tehran had planned to talk about the extension of the United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 as “meaning and baseless”.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that it was optimistic that nuclear inspection visits could restart this year and that it was important to discuss technical details now.
“We have to agree where to go, how to do it. We have to listen to Iran in terms of what they consider as the precautions to take,” he told journalists in Singapore.
The United States has held five series of talks with Iran before its air strikes in June, which, according to American president, Donald Trump, had “erased” a program which, according to Washington and its Israel ally, aims to acquire a nuclear bomb.
However, NBC News Cited current and former US officials saying that a later American assessment revealed that if the strikes destroyed most of one of the three targeted nuclear sites, the other two were not so seriously damaged.
Iran denies in search of a nuclear weapon and said that its nuclear program is intended only for civil purposes
