Iran Eyes joining Silk Road Initiative with Pakistan and China

Iran has expressed its interest in joining the Silk Road initiative alongside Pakistan and China, signaling its desire to benefit from increasing regional connectivity and the development of infrastructure.

The development occurred Sunday at a joint meeting in Islamabad, where the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, who accompanied the Iranian president during an official visit to Pakistan, participated in a joint meeting held with an official declaration by Jam Kamal Khan and Hanif, according to an official declaration.

Discussions have focused on strengthening long -standing friendly and bilateral relations between the two countries, in particular by improving transport, the connectivity network and road infrastructure.

During the meeting, the interest was expressed by Iran to join the Silk Road initiative with Pakistan and China and discussed the expansion of maritime trade via the Gwadar-Chabahar road.

Welcoming the Iranian delegation, the Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan congratulated Iran for its great success and its firm position against Israel, describing it as a question of pride and solidarity for everyone Muslim.

He pointed out that Pakistan and Iran have always stood for each other while recent developments have brought the two nations closer.

Aleem Khan invited the Iranian minister to attend the next ministerial conference in Pakistan on October 23 to 24, which will be organized by Pakistan and the ministers of 20 participating countries.

In response, Iranian Minister Farzaneh Sadegh expressed his deep appreciation for Pakistan’s support against Israeli assault and Pakistan’s feelings of good will.

It underlined the need to increase the number of vehicles operating between Iran and Pakistan and suggested modernizing the current Quetta-Zahedan route.

The Minister of Communications, Aleem Khan, proposed to train bilateral working groups to accelerate the implementation of agreed initiatives.

During the meeting, the Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan informed the Iranian delegation on the opportunities to expand the volume of trade and underlined the significant unexploited potential in various sectors.

He noted that the two countries can serve as viable markets for each other.

The Federal Minister of Railway Hanif Abbasi has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to review the Islamabad-Tehran-Isanbul railway projects, adding that the Quetta-Zadan railway line would be improved and extended to improve regional connectivity.

In response, the Iranian minister Farzaneh Sadegh thanked his Pakistani counterparts and ensured the full cooperation of his country, Iran.

She described her visit to Pakistan as very pleasant and memorable, expressing optimism for more dynamic and effective bilateral commitments in the future.

Minister Aleem Khan remembered his recent visit to Iran, described the progress of bilateral relations as positive and meanings.

He also presented gifts to Farzaneh Sadegh and pronounced warm wishes to the inhabitants of Iran.

Pak-Iran signs 12 soft

Pakistan and Iran have also signed 12 understanding agreements and memorandums of understanding to improve cooperation in various sectors.

The agreement to exchange documents of agreement was held in the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Masoud Pezeshkian. Dr. Pezeshkian has extended the invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Iran to renew talks and follow the progress made in bilateral relations so far. He also thanked the Prime Minister for himself warm hospitality and his delegation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, when he arrived at the PM’s house. Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the federal ministers and the Marshal Asim Munnir were also present.

The Iranian president planted a commemorative basket in the garden of PM House. The PM also presented the guest to members of the federal office.
