Tehran: the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, said early Tuesday that there was “no agreement” on any cease-fire between Israel and Iran.
But he added that if Israel arrested his “illegal assault” on Tuesday against the Iranian people at the latest at 4 am (0030 GMT), Iran did not intend to continue its response later.
“The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be taken later,” added Araghchi in a post on X.
“The military operations of our powerful armed forces to punish Israel for its assault continued until the very last minute at 4 am,” he added.
His remarks occurred a few hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Iran and Israel have accepted a staggered cease-fire which would cause an “official end” to their conflict, while strikes continued to hammer Tehran overnight.
“It was fully agreed and between Israel and Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire,” wrote Trump on his social platform Truth.
Trump said the ceasefire would be a 24-hour progressive process starting around 0400 GMT on Tuesday, Iran unilaterally interrupting all operations. Israel would follow 12 hours later, said the president.
“At the 24th hour, an official end of the 12-day war will be praised by the world,” he said, adding that the two parties had agreed to remain “peaceful and respectful” during each phase of the process.
The explosions nevertheless continued to do Tehran rock overnight, with explosions in the north and the center of the Iranian capital described by AFP journalists as among the strongest since the conflict broke out.
Any cessation in hostilities would be a huge relief for world leaders in climbing an escalation of violence igniting in a broader conflagration.
The opponents had exchanged missile fires since Israel made a surprise “pre -emptional” strikes against Iran on June 13, targeting nuclear and military sites and encouraging Trump to warn of a possible “massive” regional conflict.
Strike on the American basis
The announcement of the American leader’s ceasefet occurred a few hours after Iran launched missiles in the largest US military installation in the Middle East – Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar – in a Trump movement raised the shoulders as “very low”.
Calling for a de -escalation, Trump said that Tehran had given an opinion in the advance of the dam. No one had been injured in the attack, Trump said.
The Iranian National Security Council confirmed that it has targeted the base “in response to the American aggressive and insolent action against Iranian sites and nuclear installations”.
But he added that the number of missiles launched “was the same as the number of bombs that the United States had used” – a signal that he had calibrated his response to be directly proportional rather than Escalade.
“It was calibrated and telegraphed in a way that would not lead to any American victim, so that there is a ramp out of the ramp,” Ali Vaez, principal advisor of the International Crisis Group, told AFP.
The offensive occurred after the United States joined its military campaign as an ally of Israel against Iran, attacking an underground enrichment center of uranium with massive bunker bombs and striking two other nuclear installations on Saturday on Saturday.
While the international concern rose that the Israel’s campaign and the American strikes could ignite in a broader conflict, French President Emmanuel Macron insisted that “the chaos spiral was to end” while China warned against potential economic benefits.
“ Blatant assault ”
Iran said that his assault on Qatar did not target the neighbor of the Middle East, but the government of Doha accused Tehran of “flagrant assault” and claimed its right to a “proportional” response.
The Iranian state media cited the body of the revolutionary guard announcing that six missiles had struck Al Udeid, which had been evacuated beforehand, according to the Qataris.
The Broadside was made up of “short -range and medium -range ballistic missiles,” said American defense official.
AFP journalists have heard explosions in the center of Doha and Lusail, north of the capital on Monday evening, and saw projectiles moving in the night sky.
The Iranians gathered in the center of Tehran to celebrate, the images on state television showed, with some waving the flag of the Islamic Republic and singing “death in America”.
Qatar previously announced the temporary closure of its airspace in the light of “developments in the region”, while the United States Embassy and other foreign missions have warned their citizens to take shelter.
Israeli strikes on Iran have killed more than 400 people, said the Iranian Ministry of Health. Twenty-four people died in Iran’s attacks on Israel, according to official figures.
After a day of tit-form missile launches between Israel and Iran, the Israeli army called around midnight around midnight for residents in a part of the center of Tehran to evacuate, affirming that it “aimed at the military infrastructure of the Iranian regime”.
