- Irobot caresses all its robot vacuums outside the 10 max combo, replacing them with 5 new models
- The new vacancies have Lidar and rotary wandering pads and introduce a new cool design language
- They are available for pre-sales from March 18 in North America and certain European countries
Irobot started as the essential robot vacuum brand – if you were looking for a Robovac, you wanted a roomba. But over the years Classification and threatening to disappear entirely from them. Until now …
Irobot released the big cannons for 2025, deleting almost all of its Roomba fleet and replacing it with five new models which actually seem to disturb Roborock and Ecovacs.
The biggest update is the introduction of the Lidar, and it is remarkable that it is put to Irobot for so long to get on board with technology – the Lidar is almost universally considered as the best most reliable form of robotic vacuum, and is more or less standard in the rest of the market. The new rocks should therefore offer faster and more precise navigation, and they will also be able to find their way in the dark.
Irobot calls his navigation Lidar “Clearview”, and he appears on all new models. This includes – Interesting – the one who does not have the usual central and central Lidar washer. (Irobot assures us that this will not compromise the precision of navigation, but it is certainly something that we would like to test for ourselves.)
Perhaps the delay is also the introduction of rotary discs, which can lift and in a case, launch for on-board cleaning. These tend to offer wet cleaning more effective than static pads favored by Romberba so far. They are associated, in the case of the Roomba Plus 405 combo and the more advanced “Autowash” quays which can clean and dry the tampons of mop, in one case with hot air.
A decision that helps to consider this as a new start to Irobot is the introduction of a new design language, nicknamed Grid (for geometric, rational, emblematic and dynamic). The new robots have a kind of Mondrian style geometric grid on the top, and introduce matt textures for a more friendly and more avant-garde look than most competitions. It is also distinctive for the brand and will help Roomba stand out in a sea of rather generic competing products.

The most interesting introduction to programming, for me, is the Roomba 205 Dustcomompactor robot. Designed for those who have no space for a giant automatic vitiation quay in their house (hand raised), this bot does the best following and compact the dust in the small tray on board, which makes it capable of maintaining much larger quantities and deleting the need for you to empty it constantly. By the way, it is the same bot without the Lidar washer, which, I suppose, corresponds to the rationalized and rationalized atmosphere.
What is in a name?
The fact that the names have been reworked on a clearer system by Roomba (good), Roomba Plus (better), Roomba Max (Best), should be of great help to consumers who seek to give meaning to the range and their options. The only sad thing on this subject is that the maximum category is currently made up of the Roomba 10 Max combo in itself. It is the only model not to be put in the rebuilding – and since it was released until 2024, I can somehow see why. However, he did not receive the best answer and does not make a big tour. In fact, it seems to be decreed positively compared to the new elegant and capable fleet, and notably missing important updates like Lidar. I hope that a better “best” model will soon be on the cards.
Another boon for consumers is Irobot’s decision to share suction specifications again. The brand had ceased to do so, arguing that cleaning power was not a matter of suction. Although this is true, it is a useful indicator of what performance could be and useful when comparing different models (both inside the Irobot range and outside). The new rocks all have 7,000 aspiration, which is less than most premium robots, but which is always a decent quantity, especially when combined with an effective design.
