Islamabad announces revised class timings for Ramadan

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on Wednesday announced a revision of the opening hours of all public educational institutions in the capital for the upcoming holy month of Ramazan.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee today announced that the crescent moon of Ramazan 1447 AH has been sighted and the first fast of the holy month will be observed on Thursday.

Accordingly, a decision notification issued by the academic wing of FDE on school timings affects model schools and colleges in Islamabad, as well as erstwhile FG colleges in urban and rural areas. The revised schedule aims to provide relief to students and staff observing the fast while ensuring academic activities continue without interruption.

According to the new schedule, single-time establishments and ex-FG colleges will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, with an early closure at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

For double shift establishments, the morning session will take place from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. throughout the week. The evening session is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Friday evening classes beginning at 1:30 p.m. to accommodate the prayers of the congregation.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Ministry of Education has announced a revision of school timings for the holy month, according to an official notification issued today.

According to the new schedule for the lowland areas of the province, primary schools will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Middle schools, high schools and high schools will open from 7:45 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

The revised timings will remain in effect throughout Ramazan to facilitate observation of the fast by students and staff.

The Sindh School Education Department has also revised school timings across the province, according to a notification issued today.

The notification outlined new timings for primary, secondary and higher schools. According to the revised schedule, single-shift schools will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while on Fridays they will close earlier at 11:30 a.m.

For double shift schools, the first shift will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The second shift will operate from 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

The new timetables will apply to all public and private schools in Sindh.
